The biggest benefits of joining a network in the current day and age are a lower payment threshold (so you don't have to reach $100 to get your revenue), music libraries (most networks will have something like AudioMicro or Epidemic Sound), and faster support (though even this is being challenged by YouTube, their support has been pretty snappy as of late for me).
