Network Thoughts

GamingHappens

HEY LOOK! a distraction!
in the beginning I was pretty hyped for the Curse Network because of all of the positive feedback i've seen but once I joined I kind of realized that there's really nothing special about the network. The staff responses are pretty generic/kind of snarky (believe it or not), the bonuses are like any other and they can only claim that their social media tool actually helps but quiet frankly every thing in that tool can easily be found on you're own with notifications on you're social media pages, their 3rd party claim support is pretty useless since I get permission for every game I record, and their eCPM is close to my old cpm when I was on adsense (plus they take an extra 10%). So I was thinking, is there an actual network out there that helps? or is it just pretty much a pointless battle to look for one? or is there something about curse that other people are seeing.

I'm not really planning on joining a Network anytime soon. Maybe, if I become huge one day and I can't handle it all on my own, but now, I don't really see the point...

well I mean I followed networks and I thought I had a good understanding of what I was getting but honestly I was just hoping for a good cpm, and good support since i'm a gaming channel

1. As I told here few times : all MCN have no difference to their CPM (maybe it can be around 2-3%, but I'm still not sure about this). It's a myth number one on YT.
2. On a market, to be true, almost all MCN are the same. The difference can be only with a revenue share (currently all MCN which offers share below 70-80% - behind the time), contract (lenght, payment period, lockin or not, termination period etc), support service (the first thing: reply time; second one: connection with Google team (not all MCN can provide it)), dashboard tools. Nothing more.
3. We all have to release that no MCN will help you to grow (yes, it is mostly like that, if your are not 1 million sub channel). And even if you under 1 million subs, there are not too many chances for a promo by your MCN.
4. I would stick to AdSense (despite I'm close to a Network).

Thank you for confirming what I was thinking, always nice to hear this from somebody who knows clearly a lot more about it than I do :)

I think it depends what you expect to get. When I started my channel I thought these networks help you grow, but then I realized they don't... so I started to check them out, which one offers a better deal etc, and basically all the same. I just joined Curse, because they ask only 10% and that is something, when there are networks out there asking 40% ...ridiculous!!!
I couldn't do it on my own cause I need a LOT of music for my channel, and my previous network (they offered musics) gave me the freaking same musics you can find in youtube library. I just checked Curse's library and it is AWESOME. Well they promised 500k songs but they only have about 300k, but that's ok, I think that will be enough. XD
It is a good thing if you are looking for a collab that they have forum, my previous network didn't have any, they tried to share my videos on reddit, but they failed. But yeah, you can do this on your own too. I guess you have to decide if it's worth 10% for you to get access to music library, inside forum and sound effects and a little help time-to-time with settings and copyright claims.

10% is actually a really good deal. If I ever think of joining I need to remember this. The music library could actually be worth it...

You have to have at least 80% gaming content. And now at least I can say we are lucky with the huge amount of minecraft channels we made trailer for, cause we are at 80% XD

10% they're taking is the best deal that I know of. I don't have much of experience with networks. I was a partner of Freedom! for a while but I unlinked with them after 1 month. They didn't give me anything for the revenue share they were taking. I think the only positive thing is that You get paid monthly no matter how much You earn (You don't need to get to a 100$ threshold like with adsense). That can be a good thing if You are a small channel and are not earning much (something's always better than nothing LOL).

I personally would like to join Curse, since I have a gaming channel, but unfortunately I don't meet their sub and/or views requirements yet :)
