Negative Comments

It is very rare for me to get a negative comment these days. I think it's been like 2 months or something like that since I even got one. It's hard to get past them when you are first starting because you don't have a big enough fan base that will overwhelm the bad comments. It was especially hard for me because I really did have bad quality when I started, but eventually I got better. Even when I made decent videos I used to get really upset when I saw negative comments so I wouldn't try as hard on my next video, but now what I like to do with comments like that is to make sure my next video is so much better than the one that the person commented on. I use it as fuel for improvement. I remember once when someone posted a comment like "You suck so much! You're (I know this is supposed to be your) videos are sh*t! Do something productive and kiss my a**!" The very next video I uploaded is probably one of my favorites, and it probably wouldn't have been as good had it not been for that nasty comment. I hope this post helps someone who is struggling with negative comments or will ever encounter them.

Excuse me? You're one those wee cocky fucks who thinks they're above others. So don't f*****g back peddling after saying my comment was "pure b******t" when I said I block people who leave negative comment. I hate people with that attitude.[DOUBLEPOST=1403212360,1403212145][/DOUBLEPOST]

Get off your high horse and get outside instead of playing games. Also I'm 26 and have a job, bet you don't due to the amount of game uploads you've got. Sure you've got better s**t to do.[DOUBLEPOST=1403212453][/DOUBLEPOST]

I'm not going to argue with a sad teen anymore. f*****g saddo!
Ok , so since I have a gaming channel and gaming is one of my hobbies , it means I'm a teenager with no job . It also means I need to get outside because I clearly don't know how it looks like out there . Am I right ?

What if I told you I'm not a teenager and that I'm an architect and I actually have a job . What if I told you I travel because of my work and I moved from Italy to Switzerland and then to Germany and this summer I'll move to England . Is that outside enough ? I don't know . I've got way too many game uploads to judge stuff like this .

Nice ;) .

No , I'm an adult person and I can handle negative comments . The moment you upload something to Youtube you accept both positive and negative comments . What is this story of keeping only positive comments ? To look good or to feel good about yourself ?
If you get negative comments that means something . If I tell you " You can't play this game or you are an ignorat when it comes to topic X and you shouldn't talk about it " , I'm not trolling you . I mean it .
I don't know but it looks like the 99% of content creators can't take criticism . I could make names of users of this forum that received constructive criticism in the review forum and they didn't accept it . I can link you threads of people getting a dislike or a negative comment and instantly calling everyone trolls and s**t .
You are used to receive only fake compliments by your friends and similar .
Enough with this s**t . Grow up .
One day , when some of the users of this forum will get a job , will they call their boss a troll ?

People should get off their high horses and realize their content is not as good as they think .
When they do , they might get somewhere with their channels .

Oh , if you think my reply was toxic , well I'm a toxic person then because I'll tell you what I think without playing too much with you .
Although I agree with you about people not being able to take criticism (and I used to be one of those people), I do believe that content creators should block people from their channels if they are constantly being harassed by the same person/people. I think the first thing you should do if you see a comment that upsets you is take a step back, and analyze the comment. Make an educated decision on whether the comment is criticism or hate. Even if the comment is pure hate, you shouldn't ban the user after the first offense. You should wait, and if the same user makes nasty comments that have no value other than to upset you 3 times, you should ban them. I understand that there are people who make negative comments about the video that can help you improve, but there are also people who troll people without reason. Many people find it difficult to find fault in their own content, and I know a lot of people are unwilling to actually look for ways to improve. However, rational people will be able to find errors in their videos, and do their best to fix them as quickly as possible. If people are not rational enough to discern the difference between criticism and hate, then I 100% agree with you that you should not ban anyone, but when someone comments on 3 of my videos with obvious hate/troll comments like "YOU'RE DUMB!" I will ban them.

I'm 23 and everything I just said is true .

I agree with you but the thing is , most of the times these "trolls" don't even get a second chance . Now , you are free to do whatever you want but don't expect from me to not have an opinion on your actions .
I think blocking people just because of a negative comment is b******t . Just like I think it's b******t to remove ratings on your videos just because you received a bunch of dislikes . Instead of thinking "these are just trolls" you should think "what am I doing wrong ?" . And obviously there are viewers that have nothing better to do than insult randomly and in that case I can understand a ban . But I can't understand how come a small channel gets this kind of hate ?
You have to be doing something wrong .
This is my second channel and I still have to get a hate comment .
And my content isn't that great .
I just have a different attitude and I don't act like "I'm a Youtuber and you have to watch and like my s**t" .
And I see this all over Youtube and I see this a lot on this forum as well .
Youtubers with 100subs calling their viewers "fans" .
That attitude is the "troll" magnet .

Looking at the big picture I agree with you but first I have to see who is the one blocking everyone and for what .

I'm completely with you on this. If you are a small channel, like most of the channels on this forum, you probably won't get much if any legitimate hate. If you see negative comments you have to look at your content to find out why someone would complain about your video, and fix it. There are so many people out there who think that putting videos on YouTube entitles you to viewers and people who enjoy your content. If you aren't looking for ways to improve your videos, you are doing probably the worst job at YouTube ever. It really isn't that hard to get 100 subscribers because I did it with my horrible first 20 or 30 videos. There is no entitlement whatsoever on YouTube, and that is something way too many aspiring content creators fail to realize. If you can't take criticism, you have no place on YouTube.

I just hate it when people dislike a video, but they never comment why. It just leaves me asking myself that (other than the just don't like my content).

How far along your journey were y'all when you got your first hate comment or dislike? I'm at 25 subs and want to know a general area for when to expect them.

I had a really weird experience with dislikes because I got botted for like 3 months, but I got my first taste of hate comments one month into my YouTube career. It all started when I decided to try posting on Reddit. The day after I put one of my videos on Reddit, I found the same person posting comments like "You SUCK!" "Get a life!" and "KILL YOURSELF!!!!!!" I think I had a around 80 or 90 subscribers at the time, but ever since February or March, I don't think I've gotten a single hate comment.

Reddit is a whole other game, I've tried to post videos on Reddit with the same effect. they can be even worse with the thumbs down button and negative comments. Depends on the viewer you attract.
