Need New Editing Software

So, I make action/vfx videos. I am currently using imovie. I really want to upgrade so I can mask and such. One problem, my old mac mini doesn't support some programs. I downloaded the free trial to after effects, but I don't want to pay $20 a month. I tried final cut pro x as well but it kept crashing. Does anyone know of some free editing program that can mask and rotate the picsinpics? Anything that is good for VFX. Thanks!

I use Sony Vegas, its had a few crashing problems but has a auto save function so I've never lost any huge work!

I got mine for free someone I know put it on a disk, its very easy to crack and I'm guessing you should be able to et a free trial!

I believe HitFilm launched a Kickstarter to try and get their program Mac compatible. So maybe stay posted on that because I've heard HitFilm is a good program.
