My YouTube Dilemma..

Hi all,

I'm having a dilemma I figured you could help me out with. I have a channel that has 3500 subscribers and it essentially got most of those subscribers from commentary-style videos (improvisational comedy - I impersonate political figures etc.). Yet stopped uploading those kinds of videos for a while whilst I concentrated on reaction videos (to new trends etc.)

Now the issue I'm having is that I get unsubscribers every time I upload (only about 2 or 3) because, I assume, I'm not uploading the commentaries anymore.

Now in order to counteract this I have two options. I either start uploading commentaries and reaction videos alongside each other OR I make a whole separate channel just for reaction videos.
The issue with a separate channel is that YouTube loves uploads so I'd be uploading less on each channel than if it was all on the same channel, perhaps harming the growth. Also I'd essentially be 'starting again' on that new channel (subscribers, decreased views etc.).

However, the good thing is that I won't get as many unsubscribers as it gives people the option to choose which content they want to watch on which channel.

What should I do? I asked my viewers but it's like 60% to 40% on the poll so it's really close.
Thanks all!

I moved this to the Strategy / Technique advice forum. ^^

Without diving too deep into things, I'd probably do a balance of both kinds of videos on one channel. If people don't like it anymore, then it's better for them to leave. I'd rather them leave than stick around as a subscriber inflation number, and those two kinds of videos aren't too different. It's not like you're talking about different car engines in one video and then showing how to make croissants in another lol.

Hi, thanks for moving it and thanks so much for your reply.
I have to admit, I'm sort of siding with your opinion. It feels to me as though people are unsubscribing because of the BALANCE between the commentaries and reaction content, as opposed to just seeing reaction videos and unsubscribing. If I did a bit of both as evenly as I can then it might work as people will think 'well I won't unsub because he might do another commentary' and then just click on commentaries when I upload them; so that might be better. Thanks again!!

Couldn´t it be that the subscriber glitch is in effect? I notice that I lose subscribers every time I upload.
But if it isn´t the glitch, you could ask your subscribers what they think, if they are commenting and stuff. It also depends on if you want to start another channel or not!

Yeah, as I said, it's about 60% yes and 40% no with my subscribers atm. I think I'll continue doing what I'm doing but try to adjust the balance of the different content.
Also, is that sub glitch thing still a thing? I thought it was just because people saw my videos in their sub box, forgot they subscribed and so then unsubscribed, or is it a glitch?

I noticed that (at least for me anyway) that the glitch is still there, because I lose some, and get those back.
Ah ok, whatever you do, I hope it will work out for you! Well, there´s the possibility that people unsubscribe and I get new ones!

I had that happen to me a few times where a I would lose a few subscribers but all of sudden I get them back, I figure it's just a glitch! Some people I'm subscribed too I'm not getting notified until hours later after they uploaded and I have the bell turned on

That's weird. Difference in my case is that I lose them and then they don't come back aha.
Although one of my subscribers told me they got unsubbed from me and had to re-subscribe.

I heard that happing to a lot of YouTubers where their subscribers get un subed on accident. Apparently YouTube deletes inactive YouTube accounts, maybe that's what's happening. I read an article where some YouTubers lost thousands of subscribers because of that.

Stick to one channel, find the content you like making the best and go. Don't worry too much about the fine details, the most important thing is that you are making stuff. The best time to start is now. GOGOGOGOG
