My Uploading Strategy. Please give me your feedback.

STAY SMOKEY PEOPLE!
Here's the theory. People don't want the same thing, therefore you can cater to a wider audience by "staggering" video uploads. What I mean by staggering is this:

I do let's plays, so what I will do (in theory) is have the schedule in this format.

Monday (first day) - Upload the first episode of both series that day at different times.
Tuesday - Let's Play Series 1 gets it's second episode
Wednesday - Let's Play Series 2 gets it's second episode

This goes on and on until both are done then at the end post a vlog, or a behind the scenes, or just something different to "cap them off" so it gives it finality plus an extra day in the spotlight for both. Then, you go with the same formula for the next 2 LP's or series of your choice. If there is slack on it you could start the next let's play on the respective day the opposite would have been done. Either way that's all.

Is this a good idea?

Yeah that sounds pretty cool actually.
I like the idea of having two different ones going at the same time, but that's just me.
I don't know how other people will think of this, as they might think that staying strong with one series at a time is better.
But, idk, having two can bring a different variation of games to your channel.
I'd say go for it as long as you are willing to stay committed to the plan.

The way I came up with the idea (probably not an original idea but still) was that not everyone likes everything. You may not like my LP of "And Yet It Moves" because the game doesnt appeal to you. At the same time if tomorrow Crazy Taxi goes up and you love that game I got you as a fan, and then you may tell someone else who may be into that game series you didn't find entertaining. It's just if I feel if I were to upload like 100 episodes of a Fallout series it wouldn't go anywhere because not everyone wants to watch fallout. There's less variety, no surprise of what comes out tomorrow!

Plus once the series is over it has it's own playlist if you missed it or want to watch it later. So you never really miss any episodes anyway.

That's kinda how PeanutButterGamer does on PBGGameplay! Monday and Friday is his Let's Play Series, and Wednesday and Saturday is when he uploads a Series called "Hardcore" where he plays with his friends and you play until you die! It works pretty well for him, and I really like it this way!

You should go for it! :)

Yeah, I do like the possible variety that could come from the plan.
And relating to the 100 episode Fallout thing, that's the reason I'm afraid to do super long games cause it'll end up being an endless stream of the game. But also considering that every game nowadays is a good 10 hour campaign(depending on the difficulty), how parts do you think is a good amount for a full game let's play?

I am aware of PBJGamer. Never really watched a lot of his stuff, but at this point in my Youtube path I am not ready for that primetime sorta thing yet. I don't have the camera or the backing to pull that level of a show off yet.[DOUBLEPOST=1398128948,1398128761][/DOUBLEPOST]

I stick with around 15 minutes because anything over I think is kind of a waste. I want daily content and to get the most out of an LP plus most people won't sit and watch something over 15 minutes. But if you have 100 hours of footage you might want to go 30. Honestly for long games I think it's best to highlight it then show the full feature. That's how I did Harvester as it was 5 1/2 hours long, so I just made a 10 minute review that highlighted everything and kept it entertaining. That was a review though.

In all honestly with games that have the linear path if you want to do the full series the number of episodes can be as many as you want as long as you don't upload Fallout part 1 monday, Part 2 tuesday, ect. It gives no room for any other fan to get in. You isolate only fallout fans. I am starting with smaller scale games because something like Fallout i'd drone on and on, so much time editing and all that and it may not even get over. Don't mess with long campaigns unless ur already decent sized is my advice there.

Yeah, I had a similar idea. Whenever I ask my friends to watch some of my videos, they'd be more inclined to watch a shorter video.
Also that's what I learned doing my 5 part Smite series; the first two were 20-30 mins long but to fill up my progress in the game, I had to mash a bit into the third video(like an hour long). It definitely got less videos. XD
So the next video, I only did the highlights of the game or where I thought had the most action, game-wise or commentary-wise.
So overall, I think I did alright with the series.
And with the droning, if it's a more open game, I'd end up getting lost or something and would take forever just to find my way back.
Like Skyrim, and in addition to getting lost, I end up looting so much in Skyrim, last time I played I carried 1300lb/300lb in my inventory which made me really really slow. lol

I know that. :P I was just saying that he has a schedule where two different Series happens at the same time! :)

I used to do just that when I had a game channel. In my mind it was a really good idea. But in the end it actually began to hurt me. Let's say I came to your channel because of a really cool minecraft video. and then you upload an MMO gameplay. I'm not into MMO so I will skip out on that video and watch the Minecraft one.

I noticed that one series was getting all the views and the others were barely scratching the surface.
Obviously not all situations are the same and it does depend on your content.

But I would suggest watching the results, take into consideration what your viewer base wants and evolve your channel from there. Don't lock yourself down to one way of doing things. Be open for change if you deem it necessary.
