My thumbnail got randomly removed

I uploaded a video few months ago and today I saw that the thumbnail of that video changed from a custom one to some other, I can't see any kind of notifications from YouTube about it and also, the thumbnail itself is not breaking any rules. Could this be some kind of a bug? I placed back that thumbnail again and everything looks fine now.

I've had that happen. No idea why, but usually just replacing it works.

How strange. Have you tried uploading the thumbnail again? Might have been a glitch of some sort, so you could see if it happens again.

Yes, I just uploaded it again and it looks fine. I searched everywhere on my channel and I don't have any notifications from youtube about that thumbnail

That's a bit odd. Must've been a glitch with youtube. Hopefully it doesn't happen again, but if it does, keep us updated

I've had that happen too... =( I don't know why it does it, but I usually have better luck with the thumbnail "staying" after I upload it the second time around, usually using a different filename. =/ Sometimes the thumbnails take forever to update, and I'm stuck with a weird random video-still thumbnail for a few days.. >.<

I've noticed that if I upload the thumbnail while the video is still uploading, I usually have okay luck with the thumbnail "working." If I upload the thumbnail when the video is still processing, it sometimes still works okay..if I upload the thumbnail after the video is done processing, I usually run into weird thumbnail problems either right then or in the future. =/

I'm pretty sure it's a bug, I heard jacksepticeye talking about that happening to him on twitter the other day so you probably will need to reupload it.
