Hi YTtalk folks. As life changes, so do we. Or as we change, so does life. Whatever.
I'm rJay Stillwell, and I've been here just over a year. I joined the forum after browsing it for about a week, and liking what I saw. I have now grown to 3 separate channels that know nothing of one another, and it's amazing what's happened in a year. I look at other YouTubers and see 'I've had my channel for 3 months, and I have 70 subscribers!'. It doesn't get me down. My videos suck so bad, the subscribers I have are dedicated.
Basically, my main channel, one I have dedicated to gaming, has gained 5 subscribers in the last week. I have to wonder if they are from here, or what? One doesn't really know.
The point of this thread is me bantering about life in general. Now that I've graduated high school, I'm finding it increasingly difficult to find the time to run two channels, none the less, I have started a 3rd.
All three of my channels are not fancy. They are hard to want to subscribe to, and that's the way I like it.
A question I wanted to pose to the YTtalk members:
Is it odd that I don't want a massive following? Are there any other YouTubers out there that enjoy the few subscribers they have and don't worry about pleasing the masses? Or am I one of the only ones?
I've been wondering for a while, because everywhere I turn people are basically begging for subscribers. Some make it some don't. I know a friend that spent over $100 on his channel, and he's been up for 2 years and has a mere 9 subscribers. He has the intro, the channel graphics, etc.
So the thing is, is it really worth it? Is he happy? Well, the truth is, no he's not. He's depressed and angry about it. I myself have found freedom and peace with my small amount of subscribers, and I would put no more or no less amount of effort into my channel if I only had 1 subscriber. Are there any of you out there?? Or am I the odd ball out on this one? I guess you could say I enjoy uploading videos more than I do pleasing the masses. I'd be just as happy if 1 person enjoyed my videos than 100 or 1,000.
Let me know what you think. Sorry for going on and on. I must be tired. Peace out yo.
