My copyright dispute was put down and I'm p****d off.

I've Got It
I'm playing/reviewing a game called Hotline Miami. In this game are a couple songs to which the developers bought and own the rights. I received a copyright claim on a couple of the videos and disputed them. But I was just informed that on one of them, the claim was reinstated. This means that I cannot monetize my video. Sure it's not a huge problem right now since I have like 21 subscribers and barely any views, but in the future I would like to avoid this problem.

But YouTube offered me another solution: appeal my dispute. According to YouTube, one of two things could happen:

• The claim is removed.
• I will receive a copyright notification from the claimant, resulting in the removal of my video and a strike on my account.

I don't want to take that chance this early in my YouTube career but I am so p****d off that this is happening. It's not just the money but the principle. These music producers have a stick jammed so far up their asses that they feel the need to restrict gamers from uploading content that just happens to have their music in it. How much f*****g money are they going to lose from a 30 second portion of their song being played on a YouTube video about a video game?? Jesus it's not like anybody's buying their music anyway.

Well they actually don't lose any money. Really its free advertisement from you for them basicly. I wish it wasn't such an issue but meh maybe it'll be better in the future. I honestly never dispute claims. If its a song I use the YouTube feature that removes the song if thats the problem. And if it isn't an issue of a song I just agree and it unmonitizes it. And most of my videos where it wasn't a song the claim went away fairly soon, and it was able to be monetized again.

The issue they have is that you're using their song which people can go online and listen to instead of buying their track but that reasoning for gaming videos is absolutely retarded. Who is going to watch a gaming video complete with my ugly commentary voice and the sounds of the game simply to listen to their s****y a** song?? It doesn't make sense and if I had a bigger following and more authority I would file an appeal and fight it in a god damn court.

Who placed the claim? The reason I ask is because Devolver Digital has a very open blatant YouTube monetization policy. Many claims come from content owners mass claiming channel content, so who the claim came from is the determining factor in its' validity.

I got it sorted out. I messaged INgrooves and told them the situation, then they removed the claim manually.

As someone who makes actual content instead of letsplays your comment disgust me. The ignorance you post about "who cares, its advertising, 30 seconds don't matter" is insane. Sue the audio maker when you're the one using other peoples creations to make money and then cry about it?

Either way you lucked out that the creator didn't care about the music here and it was a mismatch. Read up on fair use and copyright unless you want your channel gone due to similar events.

You're the one whos talking crap about content creators and not being able to profit off their work, and I quote

Furthermore, you are keyword tag stuffing your videos, which is agaisnt the youtube TOS.

Why don't you actually create your own work based off your own ideas instead of "lets plays" of others peoples work? It's so simple to do right, they all got sticks in their asses.

That's all people do anymore, buddy. Profit off of other people's work. Everyone builds off of everyone else's content. Otherwise we'd still be in the stone age inventing our own wheels. What I do is my own content. I play the game and add my personality to it. It's a lot like being a sports announcer, except instead of watching the game I'm actually playing it. I'm commentating on the video game while playing it and entertaining the audience, so the content falls under both the critic and entertainment industry.

Might I ask what you use to make your animations? Probably Flash or something similar, right? You didn't write the programming for that, did you? Well then why are you trying to profit off of other people's work?

First off, that was my first video that I uploaded over a month ago before I knew how to work with SEO. Second, that is hardly key word stuffing. In fact the only two I would take out there are "markiplier" and "pewdiepie," but those two still relate to what I'm doing which is let's plays. There are literally 10 keywords there and you're going to tell me I'm stuffing? Now you're just grasping at straws.

Bottom line: If you don't like my content, don't watch it. I'm following fair use just fine.
