My Channels Stats

Hey,

Just thought I'd post some of my stats. People seem to ask for some of these kinds of stats evey now and again so I figured if I posted them there would be a least some kind of interest.

Maybe some people could give me their opinion about how they think I'm doing? And perhaps post some of your own stats for comparison?

I dont necessarly require validation as I'm pretty happy with how things are progressing, and progress so far is surpassing all of my expectations. Im just curious as to what others think of my numbers.

Percentage of Total Views from Subscribers: 11%
Audience Retention: 38%
Average View Duration: 5:59
Playback Based CPM: $11.20

The following ratios have been rounded up or down to the nearest whole number:

So, where would you try to make improvements based on the above stats?

Anyways...

Based on the ratios you've added to the bottom, you may benefit from a stronger call to action in your video. I notice the animation at the beginning and end of the video but if you mention it yourself, you could also indicate what you want people to tell you about in the comments section to spark a conversation. If you're making a video with several parts, remind your audience that if they subscribe, they'll be told when the next part is uploaded.
Your video description could do with more keywords to help people find you in the search bar and help them to find the videos most relevant to them. This may help with audience retention depending on how widely spread your view durations are (e.g. if half of the people are watching right through but the other half are clicking off after a minute, this could help a lot).
Keep those casual viewers hooked on your channel (and maybe eventually becoming subscribers) by adding cards to suggest other videos or playlists that they can watch. I notice you already have playlists, which is awesome because that helps Autoplay to find relevant videos on your channel. This could help to bring up your percentage of views via Suggested Videos.
That's all I can think of right now, personally I think you've had a great start to your channel :)

Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah I dont try to engage the viewers as much as I could in the comments section. I'll definitely work on asking more questions or the like during the video to try and prompt some more commenting :)

Noted re the descriptions. I'll work on trying to make them a little more keyword dense. I struggle with making it concise though. I could write an essay for each description, but trying to get it down and still including everything isnt my strong suit. I'll keep trying though :)

Im not sure about cards atm. Ill look into it a bit more. I briefly looked into in at aome point but thought it was a bit much for me. Perhaps I was wrong...its probably worth the effort.

Anyways thanks again :)

Ps. I watched a couple of your vids and I really like your voice, and your whole shtick. Surprised you havent got more subs.

You have really good watch time and audience retention for long-form content. I know 38% looks discouraging, but it's WAY better than a lot of other channels. Most people can't watch a video for longer than 2 minutes for some reason. I average ~25-30% retention on my videos, so you're doing better than I am on that front.

Looks like your channel is pretty healthy, especially for how new it is. You're hitting a good niche of content that I've never seen before (granted, not the kind of content I look for tho lol)

I'd say, if you're not doing this already, try to find a small-ish community of gold diggers/prospectors, and promote your videos with them after you integrate yourself in that community. If you can find a group of like-minded people who are excited about your content, you'll be in good shape.

Yeah Im pretty happy with the audience retention I'm getting thus far. But there's definitely room for improvement so I'll keep trying to make the videos better, and tag them better so I'm getting more relevant views. Can only help.

And yeah its quite a small niche. Probably arent going to just stumble upon these kind of vids.

From what I remember, I think the first 3 lines are the most important for keywords because they're the 3 lines that people see before they have the expand the information and find out more. As an example (and forgive me for my limited knowledge on gold digging) for your most recent video I would have wrote something like "Today during my gold digging adventures I'm testing out my DIY Miller Table for the second time. Will this homemade equipment do as well as (insert name of popular item it could potentially replace)? Let's find out!"
I find descriptions one of the hardest things too, I'm still working on improving mine.

I find cards easier than Annotations, they got a little messy. Personally whenever I hear myself refer back to another video, I add a card at that point in the video to suggest the viewer watches that video too. Near the end I'll also suggest a relevant playlist via cards for if they want to see more content like the video they've just watched. On the screen it looks very non-intrusive which is what I really like about them.

Thank you so much for your kind words about my channel :) Strangely a lot of people comment on my voice, I have a friend who watches them as a sort of ASMR thing! I guess it's better to hear people say that they're surprised I don't have more subs than say that they're surprised I have so many XD Thanks again, you've made me smile.

I think your audience retention is quite good. I think that Kate has some great advice for improving, but otherwise, I'd say keep up the good work.
