My channel is actually sinking..... as I improve it!

Hi, I just signed up. I've put it off.....but now I really have something for you.

I've perfected my channel (SEO, banner, links, trailer, Adsense, etc.) Good history of 230 videos over 2 years. I'm even making 5 videos a week, new camera, bought lighting, Great titles & thumbnails, backlinking on Twitter & G+.

(I'm a health/diet 'guru')

The better I make my channel, the less views I'm getting. Same for Twitter (even when I get a post shared and starred,)

My Twitter followers have stopped at 660. I used to be able to get them by following others, but now, that's not even working. It's as if my account is afraid of the number 661.

I've done a lot of SEO over 2 years, and it's had no effect.

Youtube view counts are good the first 12 hours, but then they fade fast. It wasn't like this before.

It IS the off season; and college, but the others in my circles are doing fine.

My last 2 videos are great examples of head-scratchers. A video technique that works best in my circles: I video claiming the biggest 'guru' in my circle is "awful, worst, ect" when we don't believe that. It reels in fans and 'haters' like crazy. (topped of with a thumb of her in a bikini, and it's magic).

This works for our newest start who has a series called "Worst of the fitness industry".

After 22 hours, it has 55 views. My ave. video used to do better than that.
 
I can't check it, your channel link doesn't work. I have this same problem but I'm focused on facebook fan page and it give me some boost
 
Guess it depends on what you're doing and what you see in your eyes as improving?

In almost all cases like this on this site you just have to replace the 'c' with 'user' in the url and it should come up fine.

Go to your personal details (from the dropdown when you hover over your name at the top of this page), then scroll down until you see "YouTube Channel URL Type:". Switch the checkmark from "channel" to "user".[DOUBLEPOST=1442898214][/DOUBLEPOST]

Of all the things you mentioned, none of them has anything to do with improving the most important aspect of your channel. The content. Have you done anything in the way of analyzing your content and seeing which of your videos attracts more subs/views and then crafting your future videos with that in mind? You can use analytics to see how many subscribers each of your videos has driven and which videos of yours keeps people engaged more (retention) and draw conclusions that can help you create videos that will keep people interested and hopping from video to video.

You've got the meta/seo/professionalism improved, now maybe focus on your content. Good luck.

Thanks everyone; I fixed my link.
Oh, I left out "content" because for me, it goes without saying. I've improved my personality, speed, humor, opening, passion, hair.

I'm an analytic fanatic. I've improved 'retention' A recent video - there was no big drop, retained 60% to the end (instead of 20%). And my viewers REALLY like my content (I get better complements than I see on other channels). And they share my videos. I have a high thumbs up/views ratio.

That's what makes this perplexing.

The term "better" is a relative term. Also, it is hard for you to be objective about it since you're the topic.

I'm not sure you understand what SEO means. That's "Search Engine Optimization". Unless you're a SEO firm (which I have been the marketing director of one), it is pretty much a "one and done" thing you do. Or are you talking about tags?

That's actually quite normal. The first 12 hours of views are all your subscribers.

It sounds like you're doing click-bait. Yeah, it brings in viewers ... but they then get upset by being lied to.

YouTube algorithms are designed to steer people away from click-baiter these days. If lots of viewers click on your video but then quickly click away, that's a red flag for a click-baiter and YouTube penalizes your videos and thus they don't show up well in the "related" column.

Instead, make honest content with honest thumbnails.

As for your content, you seem to be trying to mix two topics that are, to say the least, odd to mix. Vegetarianism and conspiracy theories. To be honest, you seem really out there ... as in tin foil hat out there. I am amazed that you've been able to reel in 600 subs with that and I doubt it will ever be much of a niche. In fact, it is a niche of a niche. If you're not cool with that ceiling, you might want to consider dropping one or the other.

If you don't see my trailer, there's another tech problem. I understand the tendency to blame the channel-owner, but trust me. I've been in that community for 6 years. The channel is not about me. 80% of the focus is on the community & health info.

" but they then get upset by being lied to" - Not in THIS community. Besides, I'm not lying, except that newest title.(that's the 1st time doing that. I figure, avoiding it is 1 reason I'm not popular) Trust me, people don't mind.

Yes, I guess I have to explain(which is deviating from the actual problem). My community is comprehensible to outsiders. But TRUST me.
So I do a little conspiracy stuff. That's variety. But the focus is on food/health.
I admit I sucked the 1st 17 months. But the last year, I'm making helpful, entertaining, funny videos. My videos, titles and pics are not the problem.
