Music Ideas

Hi, I'm Sneaky,

I was wondering if there were any other Musicians that would like to share how they come up with ideas for songs! I tend to have trouble with an idea for a song, even though I mess around in my DAW and make random stuff a lot.

Experimentation. I will come up with new things a lot while experimenting so that's the best way for me, other than that when I have an idea in my head I just 'beatbox' it in so I won't forget and then remake it with synths and electronic sounds, or I just play some stuff on my keyboard or hardware synth until I find something I like.

I can't write songs, or just lyrics, or just music, even though I tried real hard for along time. Just can't do it. Always wanted to though seeing as playing other people's music is such fun I figured playing your own has to be even better. Musicians have a gift, I'm happy for you lot in general but am pretty damn jealous too. :)

What about a song based on typos, was the only thing that ocured to me reading your post.

Everybody can learn how to make music, if you say you can't than that perception is created by you and you are the one who is holding you back from reaching a goal like that. I never had any form of musical training before I got into music production. Over the course of the past 10 years I teached myself not only how to produce music, but also how to play guitar and piano, do the mastering process and everything else that comes with music production. Did I have any natural talent for it? Nope, my first tracks sounded bad just like every producers first track... It's me in person who was devoted enough to spend countless hours learning and experimenting, and that is what led into what I am today. Have I ever said I can't do it?

NO. When you say you can't do something, it's like admitting you are 'too lazy' to spend time learning.

Whenever i run out of ideas to write songs, i'd either just strum random chords on the guitar and sing like a retard for any new melodies or, id just go about my day without thinking about writing a song and let the idea come to me naturally because melodies shouldn't be forced out, they should come naturally :D

You heard my work.

Lol.

I get what your saying and I reckon i could get there eventually, I guess I am happy enough just mucking about with other peoples songs. I was really just trying to convey how much I admire musicians, said it in a bit of a daft way is all.

I have come up with snippets of songs before that didn't sound bad, putting them together into a whole song does feel a bit beyond me though but if I wasn't writing a book, trying to do a YouTube channel, working full time and looking after my family I could probably develops the skills needed. I just don't have the time to do that too. Glad someone is though.
