I've Got It
Sorry for the slight advertisement, but I want people to know what I mean. If you check my channel out (RoyaltyFreeME), I use a VU meter. feature=guide However, I really want to use these lovely images in the background. My issue is my VU meter was created by someone for a lot of people to use, is there any way I can use my own image with a VU meter over them? In my latest video the first 15 seconds and the last 15 seconds are of an image I would like to use, but I cannot get the VU meter to show over it.

Thanks for your help!

If you have a program that has multiple tracks, you could place the image on one track and place the meter on the track above. I don't know if the VU meter's background is transparent but if it is this will work.

Sony Vegas wise: If its not transparent on the track settings somewhere you might be able to choose Subtract (I think its this compositing mode) which should make the background transparent and the image to show through.

It's done using after effects and it has many tracks. I've got the duration, artist and song name to appear over the image, but I can't get the meter to.

I suck with vegas, so I don't know how to subtract it haha!

Err, not worked much with AE, I'll try to help, how does the VU meter work? Is it a video clip/effect or something?

If you like I can mail you the download link? That way you can play around with it.

Sure, that might be a bit easier

Edit* I sent my email link, which might be easier than the PM here as I can access it easier from home aswell, if I can't solve it in the next 1 hour

Sent, sorry it took so long. I'm really busy these days :(

Okay the file is already in a composition so you might not be able to edit it like I thought. However if you use the default black one, add in a image on the bottom track and go into Solids > And delete Background and Background Solid 1, that will remove the background and allow the meter to be infront of the image. Save this as a seperate project though so you don't lose those two files. You can then add a new image on the bottom track each time. If I find a better way I'll write it here :D

EDIT* It also works for the other colors, as they all use the same two solid files :)

:) thank you very much! Just trying it now, not very good with AE so give me half an hour haha
