Multiple Channels vs. Playlists

I know this has been discussed a thousand times, but I was hoping to get some feedback in my specific situation.

My channel's main content revolves around fun activities and events. However, I've uploaded a fitness video that's doing well in earnings in comparison to others.

I'm interested in posting more fitness videos as well as tech videos related to how I record and edit my activities/events videos.

Are these topics related enough to keep one channel and use playlists or should I separate?

I hope this gets a reply. I too have the same dilemma. I like uploading my short films but I also want to upload technology, documentary and PC related videos.

I have 2 channels, a beauty channel and a "fitness" and weight loss channel, because my genres are so completely different. I'm in this same dilemma because I'm looking to upload music covers too, and it looks like I'll have to start a 3rd damn channel to make it all work.

I did some reading after not getting a response for a bit and older YTTalk threads have really suggested to keep one channel is the genres are close enough and just keep videos in separate playlists.

The majority of people who replied to those threads felt that way. They said that having multiple channels is overwhelming and difficult to keep up with.

I think I'm just going to keep one and try it out and see how it goes and only start multiple if it causes issues.

Btw, I feel beauty and fitness are not completely different and, in fact, fairly related. Do you have experience where uploading a fitness video your beauty channel caused a negative response?

As you all stated earlier, it all depends on how closely related your topics are. I personally have 4 active youtube channels that I post to (at least 1 vid/week per channel) but only because the topics are so unrelated! However, I would definitely recommend grouping like-niches in one channel!

There's a reason they called it "One Channel". I have a bunch of different ideas and my plan is to just put them all under my one channel with different playlists. If people only want the stuff from a certain playlist, they can like that specific playlist if they don't want to subscribe. Hopefully though they would be interested in the other things too.

Good point

I tried uploading a video to my main comedy channel not pertaining to my original comedy topic and got hardly any views. I think that is because my subscribers expected Comedy.

I'm running into the same problem and I don't know what direction I want to go. I've read here on YTTalk that if you're small, keep one channel and then split them out once you get bigger. I want to start including computer programming stuff, but I don't think that it will fit very well with auto repair or home improvement. I do organize things by playlists. Now, my traffic to my channel is more search driven and less subscriber driven (28,000 views, but only 81 subs). Keeping everything in one channel may not hurt me as much. I'm still on the fence about what to do.
