More videos, more growth?

For me uploading every other day has proven well to grow. I did go to daily but my videos were not watched as much. The bigger my back library becomes the more chance I gain new subs/views also.

I would agree with this last sentence for sure. My thought process is less about immediate views, and more about people discovering my library of video over time. But every channel is different, I'm not dependent on current media or trends as others might be.

The way I see it is this : every video is like another downline in a pyramid scheme (that example might open a can of worms right there!).

Ok imagine you're selling a product and you have affiliate marketers selling it for you. More sales, more profit...

... BUT if you recruit loads of affiliates who have no idea how to market or sell your product or are just lazy, then no big profits.

THIS is where the quality element comes in. You're not going to get the recurring views or subscribers if the videos you make a ton of just aren't great.

So it has to be a balance between the two

I post once a week but I'm starting to aim for 2 or 3 a week because the more you make videos the more chances you have at having one blow up. It's like playing the lottery you just never know when you'll hit that growth so just keep going and never give up <3 good luck with your channel!

It's kind of complicated, because if you are making videos that don't work and making lots of them you could be wasting time but I would side with quantity if you found something that works. That said, creating a large quantity of different video ideas when starting a channel to get data on what does and doesn't work can be a good idea too even if a lot don't work out.

If you keep increasing the quality there becomes a certain point where the returns are diminishing vs creating another video in the raw numbers that you are gaining. That point is different for different types of videos in different niches. For my videos I discovered I could streamline the quality to a slightly lower level than it was previously and people were really just interested in seeing more videos than fancy editing. I still spend a lot of time on the ideas and thumbnail, because for me those have more of an impact than the quality of the editing beyond basic cutting and smooth transitions.

If you make lots of videos that are searchable, optimized and have potential to do well then I would say more videos would help you grow faster, but quality still has to be "acceptable" and the videos need to provide value to your audience.

Roberto Blake has a video about what he would do differently if he had to start over on YouTube. He said he would film more often, not necessarily post more often. He was looking at it from a standpoint of getting comfortable on camera faster. I've actually been going live every day on Instagram to try to get more comfortable on camera. The only problem is you're looking at yourself, instead of a dark lens. It's not quite the same thing, but I do think it's helping.

This is some thing we are struggling with right now. I am putting more time into one video, filming about 30 mins, editing 2-3 hours, then everything else in between around another hour and then posting every other day in hopes that uploading more with more quality videos will help us grow.. but it doesn't seem to be helping. Each video gets 1,000 - 2,000 views each, but that's mostly because of ads.I'm starting to think posting once or twice a week would be better. Then I would get 4,000 - 5,000 views each. I think less videos with more views per video would be better than more videos with less views each?

You could always flip the camera around and look at the lens on the other side

i just have lots of fun posting everyday :D i never want to let my audience down as they have never let me down and are always showing love to the channel! :D

in theory, quality should be more important than quantity but I don't think that's how it works for YouTube. As someone posted above, more videos = more exposure = more views = more subscribers, etc.

I don't think people should post more than once a week. I have done it, but when I went to weekly uploads my quality started going up exponentially. Now I upload 1-2 videos a month and I couldn't be happier. For me subscriber growth and views stayed the same. So did edit time mind you, I just end up spending more time on a single video spread out over more days.
