yeah I have owned one of them. There is definitely a noticeable difference between the two. But it isn't bad quality wise.
However, I don't think they have a mic import though do they?

If all else fails, I guess I can still pick up the Canon VIXIA HF R500 -- mic input w/ 60FPS full HD recording. Pretty neat and only $200.

hmm. not a fan of camcorders. But if it works for you then go for it =)
