I just found a video by the VidIQ channel which addresses both tips for getting to 4000 watch time hours, and stresses a fact that a lot of recently-fledged YouTubers seem to be missing: You don't get immediately monetized upon reaching the review threshold, you only become eligible to join the YPP; and your channel first needs to pass the Compliance Review to be approved for monetization.
I'm watching this video as I write this post; and I hope the mods are ok with me sharing what I consider to be a valuable resource. I'll also see what TubeBuddy has to say on the same points, and update this post with their take on things after my Premiere is done; I use both tools on my channels.
