Messaging Larger YouTubers

Not sure if this thread has every been made before but I'm curious.

Has anyone ever written to a larger YouTuber and actually gotten a response? If so, what did you say/ask? I'm not talking about writing to someone who has millions of subs, but even someone who has 20-100k subs. (or larger of course)

I wanted to try reaching out to some other people who seem down to earth. Maybe even find some advice, make a friend, possibly collab. I know it's a slim chance but thought it'd be interesting to see if it's ever actually happened to anyone else!

Actually, I don't mind people sending proper well written messages to other YouTubers wether they are big or not. I don't like when people make pm's like "Pls shout me out pls" etc. and such, but this is obvious.

Usually when I've messaged Youtubers they've not really replied which kind of sucks :L
and I'm not talking about ones with millions of subs either :L

Anyway some day it will happen :D

I'd managed to become friends with the old school WWE DVD community back in 2010. Harpo, Muta, Stevie, etc. Unfortunately a lot of them have left due to work and family and whatnot. Still... If you combined their subscriber count, they had a lot. We were always messaging amongst each other. It was a fun time.

Nowadays I don't even bother messaging people on YouTube. :/

Most success I had with this Is I had one big YT message me first explaining why he couldn't accept my video response *Because I cursed* but he said he loved the video. Another instance was where I got someone to subscribe to me even tho I didn't ask him to. 99 percent of the time tho, no luck with that. If you aren't big most people don't care what you have to say.

I consider myself having a medium channel (10k-100k subs). Large is over 100k and huge is over 1m. At least in my book.

Personally I read and respond to all PMs via youtube, reddit, yttalk, etc.

I messaged you once and you have always been nice to respond back. I have also messaged Ray W. Johnson before and he sent us a message back.. I was asking him questions about his lighting and stuff. He actually started following us on twitter after I sent him a message.

Oh yeah? Ill remember that going forward. O_O
Its no prob.

In my signature I say I don't mind helping/giving advice. My sig specifically is referring to networks/monetization, which is what I know best but for one off strategy questions (specific + lots of broad tags or only a few specific tags? A: include many, many, many tags) or harder to research questions (are there any website/software tools for content creators? A: Yes, but all existing ones are only for larger channels, however I'm currently working on a to-be-released tool :) )

Twitter messages I at least read (and normally favorite to let you know I read it). YouTube comments I browse but admit I can't keep up with all of them, especially on older videos.
