Meeting Other Creators

Be good to self.
Have you met with other creators? In what capacity? Was it a collaboration, or a meetup, or did you just happen to know someone who also does YouTube?

I am so happy that I was able to meet my first fellow YouTube creator in person,@Redford1900 today. She is the videographer for the animal shelter near me, and she was kind enough to let me film a few segments for a George video about the benefits of pet adoption. I got to meet her and the lovely staff and all the terrific animals in the shelter, and it couldn't have been a nicer way to spend the morning.

Who have you met?

Yes, I know a content creator that lives about 20 kilometers from where I live. He has passion but no sense of quality though, and he creates content in a different language so I doubt I will ever collaborate with him unless it's through other means than direct collaboration.

It was great meeting @xingcat. It was interesting to see another creator at work. Xingcat is impressive with his level of confidence and "make it work" attitude with uncooperative animals and people going about their business in the background. I met George the Self-Esteem Cat (really a puppet, shhh) and I felt a little like meeting a celebrity. Lots of fun...I recommend meeting other creators in person.

Hmm...I've met Taylor Davis and Lindsey Stirling! It was SO WEIRD! I can't really describe it. It was kind of like a, "omg! You aren't in my computer screen and you're standing right there!" moment. lol! I used to think Taylor looked much taller in her videos, but all three of us are about the same height. xD Short people power! I never mentioned my Youtube, but I talked about how cool I thought their content was. ^^

I met a local YouTuber that I watch. He plays fiddle tunes, but I never mentioned my channel. We just played some music, and that was that. I don't think he knows I post, but that's okay. I feel awkward when I meet people who know I post videos lol :p

One day, I had been playing music at a bar (lol!), and the singer that was supposed to sing the rest of the night asked if I could accompany him with his music. I didn't know any of his music, but I just made stuff up and tried to stay in the chord structure. Then his staff whipped out a camera out of nowhere and started filming it! omg! scary! I went home and googled him and found out that he actually had a fairly large following. I dunno where that video went, but I'm kind of glad I can't find it! xD

Other than those instances, I really haven't met other YouTubers! ^^ Maybe someday, but for now I like keeping my video posting kind of private I guess.. o.0

Oh..and my mom posts YouTube videos, but I don't think that counts.. :p

I haven't met any fellow YouTubers yet, but would love to. To share best practice, maybe plan or film so Collabs, It'd be really cool!

I've met a couple & seen a few big names at events. I love working with other creators because you definitely get a sense of their aesthetic and work ethic. It's interesting to see how someone doing something similar to you is approaching it from a different creative angle.

I haven't met any real small Youtube content creators, but I have gone to Bufferfest here in Toronto and had meet and greets with a few popular Youtubers! I've met Mamrie Hart (had a great conversation with her, holy cow!), Hannah Hart, Grace Helbig, Nanalew and Davey Wavey! All of them were SO excellent and were really really inspiring. But this was before I started Youtube so I guess you could say they were my inspiration to start haha. Although I really want to meet a few content creators in Toronto because like - who doesn't want more friends to talk about Youtube with?
