Meeting fans on the street

I have been recognized a couple of times. First time was when I traveled to Arizona in 2009 for PodcampAZ. Second time was when I went to a local restaurant and the owner said that I looked familiar and I mentioned that I make YouTube videos and he said "yeah! That's it!" When I went to Vidcon in 2011, there were one or two people who came up to me and said hi and wanted to take a picture or sign something. It's always fun getting to meet the people who watch your videos. One of the things that I love about youtube is the community that can be built!
 
I actually met one of my viewers for the first time at a bar a few nights ago. There was a League of Legends community thing, and neither of us had any idea that we would be there. I was speaking to someone and got pulled aside by a guy who asked me if I was who I was. Turns out he is actually a paid subscriber on my Twitch channel as well as a youtube sub.

Was so grateful to meet a viewer, I ended up buying him some drinks and hanging out with him that night - i've had so many s****y experiences with meeting people I admire or appreciate the work of, I feel like even if he doesn't really care all that much I wanted to try and make his impression of me as positive as possible
 
I joined a new college two years back and this was a school where people came from all of the country and not many people knew each other and one guy in the canteen came up to me and said I find your videos hilarious and it felt so good yet slightly embarrassed because even though the thought of you being recognised is fun its actually rather embarrassing
