Many Channels?

The main issue with multiple channels I've seen is the ability to stay consistent with uploading on them. I know many creators with more than one channel, and pretty much all of them have what I would consider a "main" channel and then other channels they don't pay all that much attention to, and that isn't any better for growing an audience than having one channel with many different interest areas. So if you're able to stay as dedicated and consistent on a bunch of different channels as you would with one, then I'd say go for it, but it's like trying to keep plates spinning; eventually one or more of them is going to miss out on your attention and will crash down to earth.

I ended up deleting a channel of 1,200 subscribers and several others because I wasn't happy with what I was doing. I don't regret it either because I wasn't being myself and I'd rather have 6 subscribers being myself, than 1000+ being fake. I do have more channels I plan on making, but this time more organised and I won't start them until I have actual quality content and not a bunch of filler like I used to do.
Yeah I almost feel like it would help motivate me better to get back out there, when you feel like you've got a ton of cringe worthy stuff for people to find I think it makes you more nervous about what you're doing or just more reluctant to promote, I think I'd feel more inclined to tell everyone about my channel if I knew they were only going to find things I WANT them to see. I guess I'm just afraid of going through all that and then in 6 months feeling the same way about the stuff I'm making NOW lol But I kind of dont think so. Back in the day I thought it was enough for me to just literally turn on a camera and do whatever the heck popped in my head, I also left in a lot of scenes merely cause of how my hair looked in them or some crap like that and since then I've really come to grasp that like... not everyone finding my channel is gonna be a teenage girl who wants to just watch my hair all day and what might attract one type of person is making another type of person really uncomfortable, including ME when I sober up lol I won't be perfect this time around, but I think I could manage to be humble enough to at least only put out content I can live with or at lease say "My intentions went beyond making people think I was cool, I tried to do something good here and I can live with that".[DOUBLEPOST=1528892388,1528892123][/DOUBLEPOST]

You know... I can speculate all day about what would be "best" to get out there, but I think you just made me realize that ultimately I should probably go with what seems the most REALISTIC as far as doing what I set out to do. The thought of only having one channel to worry about already makes me feel less pressure just thinking about it so.... yeah that makes a lot of sense, and echoes what some other people have said. Thanks!

Yeah, I guess I just wonder how important it really is to offer what the subscriber expects and feels they subbed to, and how flexible viewers really are. I also wonder if I should delete old videos under dead channel names cause it might confuse people as to where I'm uploading and what I'm doing.

I wouldn't personally delete that content. Just put it on private so you can watch it, but they can't. I have done that with my Automotive Channel when I started doing car show content and reviewing more cars. I'll never go back to car vlogs. But it's cool that I can still go back and watch them myself.

I had to create separate channel because of live streams. My usual walking videos are always 4K and people did not like 720p I had to use for streaming because of mobile connection. Many people prefer waiting for 4K record of that walk and got annoyed by notifications about low resolution streams.

Yeah that's a good idea! I'll definitely do that with my dead channels to prevent confusion.

As far as my old "cringe worthy" videos go... I've really gained some clarity about that. I think that's actually what I'll make my return video about. I feel ready, it is nao or nevar!!!!!

I'd say if you feel comfortable and fine with having multiple "niches" on a single channel, then go for it! It may be hard to juggle multiple channels, in fact I don't even have more than one channel, so I could only imagine. Either way, do whatever feels comfortable I guess.

Yeah I have decided that's what I am going to do, I've gained a lot of perspective since I posted this thanks to this thread and some other factors, I'm just gonna "do me" so to speak hehehe

I've been umming and ahhing about featuring gaming content on my current channel or whether to set up a seperate entity for it. While I watch a lot of films I do game a lot as well and theres always at least 1 days a week where I dont feel like editing/watching movies/writing. So I thought it would be a nice way to unwind with my viewers.I think though if I do make it its own thing on a seperate channel I may well hold off on it for a bit till im a bit bigger...I dont really feel comfortable mixing and matching gaming and films on one platform...though I may do some trials in the future...

I still feel like if one can handle it, one should separate their different content ideally. I feel like the average person wants what they expect, but if it's gonna wind up causing you to have a dead channel? Then it's probably best to just do what you can do. I mean I dunno it's funny, questions like these were just as unanswerable when I was on this site 4 years ago as they are today, I really expected there to be like... some new info or development, but everyone seems to feel exactly how they did back then, which is "Maybe?" "You should!" "You shouldn't..." LOL Guess you just gotta go with your gut and stick to your guns.
