I just thought I would pass along something I have found threw observation on end screens.
I first noticed this watching other peoples videos as a viewer. especially in situations where the creator has another video that is either closely related to or a continuation of the video you are currently watching. you see the end screen come up and you think that you want to watch that video. but you may still be watching what they are saying in there outro or whatever is going on in the video and your not quite ready to click away from the video just yet to click the end screen. then what happens is the video then abruptly ends making the end screen go away and suggested video's fill the watch screen. the video you may have wanted to watch might not be in the video's suggested.
now you have a decision to make do you want to restart the video then jump to the end to click the end screen (giving the video a low retention view also kind of a hassle.) or just pick a different video from the suggested video's
after making this observation I started intentionally leaving a little dead space at the end of the video. just a second or two. weather it be not editing out reaching up to turn the camera off or if I have a music track playing in the background on my outro I may run the music track a second or two over the end of the video and just let it go to a black screen. this gives the viewer a little bit of time to say ok the video is over now I'm going to click the end screen.
video's I have done this on do show a higher rate of end screen clicks in my analytics.
even though end screens are not your most powerful tool and appear in the lowest retention parts of your video this does seem to have a impact on there effectiveness at least in my observations so I thought I would pass that along.
