Making a Random Channel Like Mine Less Cluttered

Munchito696

I Love YTtalk
Ok, I have a feeling my randomness is preventing me from getting subs.... When I sub to someone, most of the time they have a theme. I don't want to take videos down, but I want to organize it somehow... I'm thinking of making playlists of each category of video and maybe posting a link to the playlist or something... Does this sound like a good idea? I don't want to waste time sorting through all my videos if it sounds like a s****y idea. I'm not sure if I should put it in the top of the descriptions, do annotations, or what. I'm sure if people see I actually have some type of theme, that is likely to get me more subs.

Has anyone else had a jumbled mess before and cleaned it up? Any other advice would help. Thanks!

IF you can categorise videos then do I've done that with indie games I me and my friends have played :)
I might organise it a bit more :)

You should put things into playlists if you can categorise them easily :D

i have things in catagories but i dont think people sub because of that. however i think a theme is more too it. idk if i have a theme. i guess mine would be minecraft but i upload 2 different kind of games as well though. also if i would i would change my youtube name and URL if that can be a choice. because i believe a good name gets subs. themystcast just sounds weird now i guess. a better name would be MystifyGames. which is what im going for.

I can easily do that (dog videos, military, time lapse, slow motion, mountain biking, painful, etc.) but I'm trying to think of the best way to steer people towards these playlists. I don't do outros, so I'm thinking putting it in the first line of the description or something. I think annotations are annoying...[DOUBLEPOST=1389550980,1389550425][/DOUBLEPOST]

Yeah maybe a name change would be good for me too, it's not like I have a whopping amount of subs that would be like "oh God, where did Munchito696 go!?"

Any suggestions? My most common video is dog videos, but I have a lot of non dog videos as well. If I were to change my channel to let's say, Lola & Ollie, it would be weird to say, "Hey, check out this awesome gun shooting and Lola & Ollie's channel"

i wouldnt know what name sorry haha, however i suggest looking into changing your name before restarting on another channel

Playlists are fantastic! You can also use annotations at the end of your videos to draw your viewers to the playlists! Right now, in my annotations, I promote two videos and three playlists. 4% of the people who reach the end click on an annotation. That keeps them on MY channel instead of wandering off into YouTubeLand to some other random video.

Playlists are one of the best ways to increase your per session watch time, which is the single largest factor in ranking your videos. Organize your videos into playlists and when you share a video out on social media, share it as part of a playlist.

I personally think annotations can get annoying, I've had people comment on mine saying "oh look, another person saying to subscribe" or "the video would be much better without the annoying popup links". I'll have to play with it, but I think I may go with putting the playlist link in the first line of my description. I just have to experiment with it to see how visible it is and how annoying it may get.

you put yours at the end??? The videos I've watched from your channel seem really long, that's pretty impressive to keep people's attention that long![DOUBLEPOST=1389556400,1389556207][/DOUBLEPOST]

I think you mentioned that on one of my other threads, I think you first sparked that idea into my head. Thanks for the idea! I was just thinking why a channel with similar content has WAY more subs and views, and it hit me: I subbed to them because I knew they made a lot of those certain kind of videos. My channel is a mess! lol. I have timelapse, dog videos, food challenges, random GoPro videos, etc all mixed up, so nobody would see a trend by looking at my channel. That's my project for the next couple days I guess. I bet this will finally increase my sub count...

I rarely vocally ask people to rate or subscribe but I do have 'Subscribe' in my end-card. If I was a subscriber to a channel, I don't want to hear 'please subscribe, blah, blah, blah' every video!

I use 30-second annotations because I offer several options at the end of the video. I need to give them the time click. You could easily get by with 5 or 10 seconds if you're just using text annotations.

As Wreckless stated, the goal is to increase the watch time on your channel. I see that you have a lot of 1-minute videos. At the end of your video, YouTube puts up a bunch of recommendations for the viewer. You're going to let somebody else tempt away your viewers?

When you go out to a restaurant, don't they ask if you want dessert when you're finished? They have you in their house, they have to try to get you to stay a little longer and spend a little more money. When you have somebody in YOUR house (channel), you should be trying to get them to stay a little longer and watch another video.

I will share with you my strategy with end-cards. This track video is 16 minutes long! 39K views. About 20% of the viewers watched the whole video. That would be approximately 8K get to the end. Out of the 8K, 614 clicks. Now, 614 isn't a big number in relation to the original 39K views but that's over 600 people stuck around for an extra serving of dessert. Here's a screenshot for proof. The 4% I stated earlier was just off of the top of my head and is probably more representative of my 7-10 minute videos.

Now back to annotations, since the video that I'm talking about was a track
video, at the end, I show another track video. Plus, I give two links for
Track Playlists. If they want something different, I show a video for cars
and one playlist for cars (cases).

In your case, you could have these Playlists:
Dalmations
Dogs
GoPro
Military

Can you only share to your own FB wall or Twitter page? I'm not sure how to share playlists, I've never tried it before. I just tried to share to one of the groups I belong to on FB as a test, and it only shared the first video from the playlist. I'm confused...
