Maker Gen - August Payment Update

-Apologies for the re-post, elevating relevant info from an earlier thread-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, creator fam - For the sake of confidentiality, we're not going to discuss what's happened with any one account in a public forum. That being said, the following bullet points outline the recent goings-on with August payments:

-All existing Maker creators are welcome to drop by the forum, where we've outlined why a portion of payments were delayed. TL;DR version is...We switched to a new payment system, combined with a portion of PayPal payments simply not being sent out (by PayPal). Those affected by the system switch should be receiving payment soon (some have already), along with most of those using PayPal. We're continuing to work with PayPal's tech support toward a solution.

-YouTube has withheld payment (to us) for certain creators, based on what they call "suspicious activity" on the account. Some of these activities may include view botting, or other attempts to game the AdSense system. We are communicating with YT to obtain additional details. This process is standard practice across both networks, and partners connected to their own AdSense account.

We're working aggressively to bring these points to conclusion. If anyone has any questions, feel free to PM me directly and we'll chat. <3

Hi Ahnaris,
Sounds like you are trying to give an answer to a lot of concerned users.

Maybe you could clarify something. I saw on that other thread that the users who got the 'suspicious activity' emails were still able to access their accounts, their dashboards and still creating revenue. Wouldn't YouTube disable ability to make money if there was something going on? Wouldn't their dashboards in YouTube reflect the reductions or void out the revenue?

I don't know a lot about how MCNs work on the backend, but I know the channel I have directly with YouTube slightly adjusts adsense revenue at the end of each month for anything they deem they need to refund to advertisers, but I am always paid out what the dashboard indicates. How can all of these dashboards have earnings showing on them if they indeed were voided and not paid out to the MCN?

Is there a way to email those people with proof or something from youtube that backs up the non-payment? I can see how some people are upset if their dashboards are showing income for the months you say YT took back the money. Also, not having monetization disabled seems weird too. Google just shuts that off with no warning if something is sketchy to them.

Just interested to see how it all works out cause I have never heard any complaints before about your company not paying and would hate to see the bad reputation going around.

Thanks!

Hey Crimson/Chance: as I mentioned in my post, I'm happy to answer questions via PM's. Have been keeping an eye on my inbox every day. =)

Since this is an informational post/FYI, I'd like to not turn it into a discussion thread. Again, feel free to PM me - esp. if you haven't been paid.
lol no reply. Just like their support team.

FYI today is 28th and still haven't been paid for August.

I can't PM...and my questions were pretty diplomatic and seemed appropriate to have answered in a public update considering the number of people it seems to be affecting.

@chance2b007 I agree re: diplomatic, however for the portion of creators who may be performing suspicious activity, I am limited in what insight can be offered publicly. I'll provide what I can, below:

Hi Ahnaris,

I'm not able to speak for YouTube, however our own (ongoing) research indicates a portion of affected creators are clearly in violation of the YouTube/AdSense ToU. I'm not able to provide anymore information, as to do so would reveal our method(s) of detection. The good old arms race.

I don't know a lot about how MCNs work on the backend, but I know the channel I have directly with YouTube slightly adjusts adsense revenue at the end of each month for anything they deem they need to refund to advertisers, but I am always paid out what the dashboard indicates. Again, not in a position to speak on YouTube functionality. We are communicating with them to obtain additional info, and will act once we have the full picture.

Is there a way to email those people with proof or something from youtube that backs up the non-payment? I can see how some people are upset if their dashboards are showing income for the months you say YT took back the money. Also, not having monetization disabled seems weird too. Re: Sending proof, this gets back to the arms race concept. We also have a number of questions, and are working with YT to clarify.

Paying creators on-time is something we've historically done very well, and that trend shouldn't change.

@crimsonskies - I've explained where we're at, and how we're working with YouTube to obtain clarity. Keep in mind that Maker is not owned by YouTube/Google. We maintain a great relationship with them, and through that relationship a solution will rise. =)

Aug payment no show.
Sept payment no show.

Maker Support = 0/10

This network has gone from amazing to absolute garbage real quick. I'm glad my contract is up in 2 months so I can partner with Fullscreen.
