Magic Lantern for Canon DSLR cameras!

BrettMikaluk

Uniquely Awesome Since 1997
Has anyone used it or heard of it? I just installed it to my T2i yesterday and it's AMAZING! I would highley recommend using it if you are able to work with computers and install software onto things :D very easy to use and set up and I notice a huge difference in recording already!

I love magic lantern!

If you turn on the focus peaking, it's a huge help when trying to keep your subject in focus. Zebra striping is also a good one to use (helps keep your whites from peaking). It's great for Photography as well, and for changing your ISO, F-stop and shutter speed if you don't have a manual lens. Definitely improves low light shooting. And the white balance setting......I could go on for a while. ;)

I want it for the RAW Capabilities but I'm not sure i can afford the SD cards ill need to go with it!

What does the focus peaking do? and I have yet to try it with my photography, but I'm looking forward to it! :)

Basically anything that is in focus will have little red dots around it. It helps manual focusing a lot. I used to have to zoom in 10x or 5x to make sure I nailed the focus (which is not something that is fun to do when taking photos under a time constraint), but with the focus peaking on, you can tell if the focus is good. Of course it's not infallible, but you gotta try it!

What have you found most useful about it so far? I've been considering trying it out but I haven't been quite sold on it.

The biggest, and most noticeable difference is the audio. It turns off the Automatic Gain Control which removes almost all the noise in the audio. As well, the amount of in camera tuning you can do with the colour and white balance etc. is just amazing as well!
