Machinima 100% Rev Share contract.

Hi, so for a few years I've been on a flat 7 years (yeah) $2/1000 monetized views partnership for the past 3 years, that may have been bad at the time but is really good now, making a lot more than the estimated earnings from the channel(even double now, but in the past the channel and Machinima made more and I got less than the total earnings).

So, for a few months, Machinima tried to make me change to 60-80% rev share contracts, and now they sent me and probably everyone that had a flat contract a new one with 100% net youtube revenue and 50% net off-youtube revenue for the remaining 4 years if I want to, also saying that if I don't sign it, the channel will be released from Machinima. (they said so before but this time it looks like they are really releasing channels, I delayed them a bit since I had a community strike that finally expired yesterday)

Now I'm a bit skeptical about it, it's a long lock-in, they also say they want a part of sponsorships and I can't terminate it but they can. Most people adviced me not to get locked-in, but the 100% sounds tempting.

I have a pretty small average watch time, most of my videos are short, so it's about 1:30-2:00 minutes, and I have a lot of views from PH as well so that might drop the CPM, but last year the estimated earnings are higher than what I was payed from the flat contract, so I guess this was just a bad year for ad revenue, can they get higher again or can I raise the CPM if I increase the average watch time?

Should I go for it, or wait and see if they release me and join Curse?
Also, if I sign the new YPP now, is it ok, is it once per channel or if I get released and join Curse something will go wrong or I'll just have to sign it again?

Thanks a lot,
-Remus

Bro please check out my review of Machinima lol..

I had a new contract through (but the rev share wasn't as good as yours obviously) I personally feel you would be better off waiting to join another network, I feel your talent would be better deployed with another network. I too had a 3 year contract (2 years remaining) but make sure you negotiate YOUR terms, this is YOUR opportunity to get a better deal - like SEO optimization e.t.c

let me know what you chose bro! :)
