Losing Motivation to Post Videos?

Since I am a new channel I wanted to ask some of you out there. Have you ever lost motivation to post videos on to YouTube? Even if you love doing it and have fun? I love posting videos and love filming and everything about YouTube, but there always comes that time where you get tired of doing something. I am sure I won't come across this time. Have some of you? What did you do to come over this? I'm interested in knowing!

This happens to me every couple of months or so. It's not so much I lose motivation, it's just I get busy and tired and making videos takes on a lower priority in my life. I love making videos and I have a lot of fun with YouTube, but the truth is it does take a bit of work (setting up my camera, writing out my video idea, recording it, transferring the files to my computer, converting them so they work with my editing software, editing, creating a thumbnail...). After a 10 hour day at work, I'd rather put on pajamas and watch a movie or read a book than try to look energetic in front of a camera.

It definitely happens. I'd be surprised to find out that someone who has been at this for some time hasn't has similar experiences. That being said, I don't think anyone should FORCE themselves to have to make a video. If YouTube is your sole source of income and what is keeping a roof over your head and food on the table, then maybe. But for most of us, there is still a long road ahead. Better to enjoy the experience before the days of "is this still what I want to do" start to kick in.

Back in September of 2011 I started a daily vlog on another channel. I almost made it a whole year but really lost steam about three quarters of the was through. I just got tired of the low conversation rate and the people that did talk didn't really have anything nice to say. So I just stopped.

Now I'm back on my original channel and having another go at vlogging. This time I'm still at a disadvantage because I can only record and upload with my iPhone. Soon I will have a computer and editing software and more importantly, a DSLR camera so I can make better quality videos. I'm very excited to get started and trying to edit videos. Looking forward to trying new things! Would be nice to get support.

Definitely know the feeling! I have been doing YouTube for a little over 6 months now and I have made little to no progress! But I just look at what I can become in the future an it gives me the motivation to keep posting videos! Don't give up because eventually your hard work has to pay off somehow... Right?

Yea i know how you feel man. Sometimes you just lose the motivation but when it happens you gotta just remember that it was all for fun in the first place.

Ahh, the #1 way for a channel to die.

I've done this more times than I can count, and my channels have suffered severely.

For example, in the last 16 months since I started my main channel (2.8K subs), I have spent roughly half the time not uploading due to no motivation. The channel is 'daily uploads' but I stop uploading months at a time. Because it's on & off, at my peak I was getting 300-400 views on new uploads (when I had 1K, and now I get about 50 views with almost 3K subs.

It's safe to say this channel is dead & I will only upload random songs/mixes here & there that will make me some extra money. I have 1 kinda video with 120K views that's sitting on a crazy high CPM atm (+$10) and it's the only thing keeping me from completely abandoning the channel..
