Losing a sub

Hello YTtalkers,
This is something that has been bugging me for the longest time and I want some input on this. A few months after I started my channel, I got my first active sub from another small Youtuber who gave me uplifting feedback about my channel and my commentary. That's not all, this person asked me if I can check out their channel. I usually do not do sub4sub, but I wanted to give this person a chance and I checked out their channel. I watched a couple of their videos and I enjoyed them. I ended up subbing back. This person has been a supporting sub by sharing my videos on Twitter and leaving nice comments on my videos. They've been more active than any of my other subs combined. I've done the same by watching their videos, sharing on Twitter, and leaving comments.
After awhile, out of the blue, this person unsubs my channel. No feedback, no nothing on why I deserved the unsub. Nothing happened between us, it was out of nowhere. All these thoughts ran through my head and I thought of many reasons why they unsubbed. This person is still active on Youtube so it's not an account that Youtube deleted. At the time, my channel grew to 10 subs but this person knocked my number back into the single digits. Since my sub count was so low, I was able to easily find out who unsubbed. It kind of hurt me that someone led me to believe they liked my content and then they turn their back on me just like that. I wouldn't have cared if it was a dead sub, but this was an active sub who showed interest in my content. I only got one criticism from another sub, but the feedback on my videos overall have been positive and this did not stop me from enjoying making my videos. It's just that, I felt like crap not knowing what I did or did not do to get the unsub.
I know I should not dwell on this but it was not a good feeling and it is something that baffled me. This happened on an old channel. I started a new channel to get a fresh start. I'd like to know if anyone else has ever experienced this? Is this a new way for Youtubers to use other Youtubers for subs? I'd just like to get you guys' input. Thanks for reading

I think FUZZY TV is right, sometimes people lose their interests or maybe they feel that they got enough subs to unsub someone. So don't take it too personally, you should enjoy doing what you want. I hope you will be proud of your content rather than the sub count. All the best for your channel :)

Take it in stride and dont let it get you down :) think of it this way. Every time you let someone get to you, or every time you hold a grudge or something, you're basically letting that person live in your head rent free (LOL)

I've unsubscribed from people who I'd have called a YouTube buddy before, simply because my interests had changed or I was no longer interested in what they were putting out. Its not personal and I'd like to hope they know that. Don't worry about it and keep on going :)

The sceptical side of me makes me wonder if they didn't feel they were getting enough to help their own channel in return for being active in your channel's community. Having said that I have done that to a few people I've previously engaged with because I no longer find the time to watch their videos or enjoy them the same as I used to.
Try not to dwell on it, I'm in the same position where I could figure out which of my subs unsubbed but I don't want to torture myself when it could be for reasons out of my control.

Tastes, habits, relationships change. Concentrate on the nine other subs you've got and everyone else who still watches and engages with your content.
