It will merge and change, much like the continents of the world eventually will (in 100 million years). I don't like to think of YouTube dying, it'll go through some major changes though.

I think YouTube has the potential of staying around. Perhaps the only thing that could be it's downfall is not an emergence of a new piece of technology, but the financial aspect of keeping it up. We don't know what goes on behind the scenes. Who knows, Facebook or Apple might buy YouTube from Google and that in itself might cause disruptive changes. That's why we also have to be up to date with what information is made available to us.
But, going back, I hope it stays. It's like a time capsule for all of us.
