LONG VLOGS?

Hey guys,

I have asked this question before but not on here yet, for most of my videos I try to keep them around the 5 - 7 minute mark but there has been the odd few to go over to around 8 - 9 minutes.

Do you think they are too long and would lose interest? or would you keep watching

Have you tried looking at your Audience retention to check each video? If not, I would recommend checking every once in a while and try to improve where they choose a different video

That's totally true, but if I'm taking a chance on clicking on a vlog from someone I've never watched before, I'd be more inclined to give them a chance with a video that was 5 minutes or under (at least until I get to know them and know that I'll be entertained for the whole 8-9 minutes)

Vlogs over 4 mins loose me... For most of my Yttalk Vlogger friends, I have to put in an effort to watch long vlogs, and often I can't. hehe

For me, if you don't get me in the first 30sec-1min, you lost me. You have to grab me... that's me though.

Hahaha, I have a MUCH shorter attention span than anyone here. I tend to be more interested in 1-2 minute videos, and will click away if I'm not entertained in the first 10 seconds or so. Unless someone has personally asked me to check out their video, in which case I try to watch the whole thing.

It all depends on the first, say, minute or so for me. If they have me captivated in that minute - I guess I could watch a video for a good 30/40 minutes should it keep to the standards of the opening minute!

I used to make around 4-5 minute Vlogs until I asked my viewers and they said they'd like to see longer Vlogs. But now I just record however long I feel like it. Just nothing too extreme.

I think that's just it.... true vlog watchers will watch vlogs any lengths if they like it.

It depends on the person or the video for me. I could watch a 45 minute vlog if I'm really interested in what the person is saying. Otherwise over 4 minutes can be a bit long, I usually try to keep mine below that.
