Live Streaming on YouTube

Sweet Tooth Outlaws

I Love YTtalk
Hey everyone I have a question. I saw that you can have live stream events on YouTube, has any one ever had one of these events, and if so how exactly does it work? I would like to have future live stream events when my channel starts growing.

If any one has done a live stream event on YouTube, what are the pros and cons? Do you have any advice?

Thanks,

Well i dont know about youtube but since google bought twitch I imagine its the same process.

Download Open Broadcast Software (google OBS) and set that up to do live stream. Also I suggest you render it while you play to mp4 so you can save the stream for uploading later[DOUBLEPOST=1407475179,1407474874][/DOUBLEPOST]

Ive done a few, one on Justin.TV, one on my channel and another on my friends channel with other youtubers and we about to do another next week.
I did a live Q and A on my channel simply using Google Hangouts. No tricky software to download, just download the Hangouts App, start it up and you are up and running! Theres plenty of videos on how to use it and for someone with no skills like myself, it was very simple and easy to use, had no technical issues at all.

I promoted the live stream on my channel, Facebook and Twitter a week before the actual show and even gave a date and time map at the end of the promo video to minimize the 'what time is that where I live' comments and it helped tremendously I think.

The live stream itself wasnt bad at all except I used the comment tracker to answer comments. The Comment Tracker Tool sucks. It takes like 5 minutes to load each batch of comments so it was a pain when I ran out of comments. What I should have done was simply open up another tab to the video and read the comments there but I was afraid that would make the live feed lag, which it probably wouldnt have. Overall feedback from the fans was that they loved it, there were no technical issues and it went very well (even though I felt like it didnt).

I plan on doing another live Q and A eventually and the only thing I think I will need to do different is this time Im opening up the extra tab to read the comments from the video page lol.
