Linking Google + Page w/YouTube Channel - thoughts?

Brent Blogs

Blogger, vlogger, comedian, & ranter.
Hi folks,

I'd love to get some feedback.

While playing around with my YouTube settings today, I stumbled upon a "new" feature that lets me link my YouTube Channel with my Google + page. Figuring that the more content I can connect on the world wide web, the better, I went ahead and did it.

It changed my name when I comment on videos and such from BrentBlogsDotCom to my Google + page name, Brent Blogs.

I can now also have a "YouTube" tab on my Google + page, although for some reason it only seems to show my most recent nine videos. And I only have four "followers" anyway.

I'm just wondering if there are any inherent pros and cons to linking these two accounts. I'm not fully sure I see any real benefit to it, and frankly I effin' hate Google +, but I thought the more inbreeding I could do with various Google products, perhaps the better my Google and YouTube search results would be.

Any - and all - feedback, thoughts and information would be appreciated. Thank you.

Google+ is the bain of my existence. Don't giv the satisfaction of linking your accounts.

It's a whole lot tougher to change your avatar for some reason, and it also removes the whole "message" feature, which doesn't show your comments, private messages, etc, etc. It's kind of a pain in the behind, to be fair.

It makes things super complicated for me. You are lucky it worked out well for you.
When you link the accounts together hanging things in your Youtube become a lot harder. My google plus name is Lilikoi J... Because Google decided that "Juice" does not conform to the standards of a proper name. If I link my accounts, my channel name will change to display as lilikoi J. I submitted a name hange request twice with documentation and got denied twice. It's dumb that Google expects you to display your real name to the whole world just to use a pseudo name which is what a lot of the other Youtubers have.
I'm not willing to disclose my legal first and last name just to link my accounts, though when my channel gets bigger I may change my mind on that and finally link it.
Sorry about the typos and grammar. Sent from my iPhone.

You don't have to display your real name. My real name is obviously not Brent Blogs, it's Brent SomethingElse - and as you pointed out, Google + forces you to use your real name on your account. But if you create a Google + page for yourself, which is what I did, you can give your fan page any name you want - just like on Facebook. Hence the Brent Blogs.

It's my Brent Blogs PAGE that I linked with YouTube, not my personal account.

I'm not sure what you mean - on the Dashboard, Video Manager, etc. views, you can click "Inbox" and still see your messages? What do you mean?[DOUBLEPOST=1366589828,1366589803][/DOUBLEPOST]
I don't use Google + haha.

Yeah, I mean... I totally hate it. But I figured it was one of those like "required" things if you plan to one day be internet famous. LOL[DOUBLEPOST=1366589884][/DOUBLEPOST]I guess what I'm asking for folks is - other than maneuverability, as already outlined, are there any pros or cons to linking the two?

lol maybe. I just don't really see the point to it, unless Facebook goes down.

The only advantages in linking a plus page to Youtube are multi-administrator capability and the ability to start a hangout/hangout on air as your plus page instead of your personal page.
