Likelihood of copyright strike for cover songs?

I want to get partnered with Fullscreen so I can sing cover songs. The only problem is that I need to get big enough first. However, since I sing cover songs, I'm afraid I'll get copyright strikes and it'll all be over. Argh! It's such a paradox! I can't join until I make videos, and if I make videos, it might keep me from joining!!!

Aside from that, I'm going to create a channel just for my cover songs. Do I make it on the same account or a different account? Because if I get three strikes on one, then I lose everything, right?

Anyway, should I risk it for a chance?

Hey there,
So I've been doing a little research about it and in most cases if you make ALL the intrumentals and music etc etc so that your not using any of the original song at all in your tracks they usually won't give you a strike they'll just content ID it.

Hope this helps!

Okay, thanks. So you think it'll be okay to make the channel on the same account?

Yup, if you play any instruments, just play the song and sing over that.

It doesn't matter if you create your instrumentals, the lyrics and music are copyrighted.
You will get trouble if you make a cover song video and try to make money from it (monetize)

If you DO NOT monetize, there is a chance you will get notified that you don't own the copyright but because you don't make money of of it, the probability of it leading to a strike is very small.

just don't monetize untill you are with a network that grants you the rights to do that

Okay, thanks. That's what I was planning to do :)

I personally haven't ever heard of a cover artist getting copyright strikes from making cover videos. You do however, get stung with tons of Content ID claims. :/

I've been talking to some cover artist over YouTube and in general:
a) Once youtube recognizes it as somoene elses music you can't monetize it to begin with
b) Most major companies will just content ID it but if you just upload the original song and not a cover and try to take credit for it that's when you'll end up with a strike on your channel.

Also as for it not mattering if you make the intrumentals, covers are actually covered under the fair use laws if you dont use any of the original song, while it doesnt cover you making money off it without author permission it does protect you from being penalized for it in forms of fines, strikes, etc.
