Lighting Equiptment

Hey guys, to give a little background, the only things I have currently to film with are a tripod & a camera I bought in 2011. As its getting darker earlier in the UK (& looking gloomier each day) I am in desperate need of some lighting now. Most of my videos are filmed in the doorway of my room because its so tiny in here.
That being said I've been looking for lighting and was thinking of purchasing one off Amazon which has the catchy title 'Neewer 60x60cm Portable Professional Softbox Kit for Nikon SB900/SB800/SB600, Canon 580EXII/580EX/430EXII/430EX, Neewer/TT860/TT850/TT560, Yongnuo, Nissin, Pentax, Olympus and Other Speedlite with Universal Hot Shoe'
Someone then said I should have three lighting boxes (which wouldn't fit in my room) and now I'm all confused about it.
So does anyone have any recommendations on lighting? They'd be greatly appreciated

Well depending on the camera you use and how dark it is you might get away with just boosting the lighting on your camera itself. I went out and bought two construction lights for like $20, which work in some situations, but they're extremely bright. I think you'd be good boosting the, I believe it's ISO, I may be wrong. I'll have to check my camera again, but adjusting the camera settings has helped provide just enough light to the scene so it's not blindingly bright.

ok since you have limited space and possibly funds.. I would go simple and it would look good. Get some floor lamps and some china Balls. this would create soft lighting and in total would cost you between 30 - 50 dollars American. Even one will look great if you put the china ball over the lamp it really puts out a nice soft light.. Infact for our show that is all we use in the studio we have 4 normal 60 watt lamps with china balls on them.

As far as I can see on your channel, you mainly want to brighten up your face.
Having a simple soft box with a good light bulb in it will make a huge difference.
You don't need a 3 way light setup for a simple vlog video. You should can get a soft box and the light bulb easily for 40 Pound.

I don't? well now I feel better I'll see how the lantern idea goes but I could always ask for a soft box for Christmas as a bonus lighting thing

Experiment with what you've already got. I've seen a rather well lit short horror story lit only using a lamp and an IKEA bin. the sky is the limit!
