This is kind of an odd question but should I use the same backround image for all of my lets play thumbnails?
I have been told both ways and I want hear more opinions on it.

I would say Yes..You want some part of your thumbnails to be recognizable. For instance all my DIY videos have green backround, all my vlogs have a yellow backround, and all my official videos will have my logo on them. That way my users can go to m y videos and see 3 distinct types of videos and know when they click on a green one it's going to be a diy and not a vlog

I think that sometimes it's good to have a different thumbnails. For example South Park The Game... the game is dynamic and haves a lot of stuff going on and there are a lot of cutscenes. So... maybe it can be very catchy if you put different thumbnail for each episode. With that tactic you can catch someones attention, who is not your sub. If you're doing the videos exactly for your subs, you can go with one background of course... to be tidy :)

I feel like it does depend a lot on the game.

I think it depends on what the content is. I like to create unique thumbnails for each of my videos. Well the only exception (sometimes) being if I know a series is going to be long. So other than that, I don't think they should be the same with only slightly varying differences. Just seems a tad boring to me!

You can do a unique thumbnail for each one, but still have it be similar. Like you can make the background in all of them one solid color, and then put a cut scene from the game on it somewhere small enough for people to see the background (and whatever else you put on there), but also big enough to be able to tell what the cut scene is.

It's all down to the content for me. For a certain game yeah I will use the same BG (custom made and not stock image) but not for every video. Someone mentioned it as a way of branding and yes it is solid branding but I like to personally keep my branding slick and discret by adding a transprent version of my logo in the corner or out of the way.

Its out of the way so people can see the Thumbnail (Game, Episode, Title which is optional) but its a recognizable logo which my subs will know. Once that logo has been established then you can use whatever BG you want.
