Let's Chat ("Fake" Youtubers)

I've seen videos like this where people claim that other Youtubers are 'fake' because they don't swear or speak a bit differently in their videos. It's the idea that you have to be entirely and completely you in every video or it's a lie. It's not true. People work on content for entertainment or information purposes and put a lot of effort into it. of course it depends on you, your content, the direction you want to go but by no means is it fake. Like @babyteeth4
said, we all have different social filters. We're not all the same in every situation. I don't like that people are being called fake for consciously choosing to do or not do something on Youtube.

Social filters is a good term. We behave differently in different situations. Conversational tone is different when we are talking to somebody in person compared to talking to an audience of many.

One time, about ten years ago, a postal co-worker gave me the contact of a friend who was a travel agent. After a few days, she asked me "Did homeboy hook you up?" Then she apologized and said, "Did Jerome help you?"

To be honest, I was a bit hurt that she felt that she had to talk to a white guy differently than a fellow black person. In that situation, it was no big deal but instead, it made me feel like it was a racial issue or that we weren't friendly enough for that terminology.

I doubt many YouTubers act EXACTLY like they do in real life while behind the camera. That being said, the more YOU you can be, the easier it will be to say true to who you are if / when your channel finds some success.

I am on the side of maintaining a professional image. You can find 100 other guys doing videos like mine and raging about what is happening. I choose to be calm and have fun with my work. I actually started doing what I do because one day I would like to figure out how to get into sports broadcasting. This is great practice. If my channel is my resume for work like that I want it to come across as professional. Sometimes a word slips out here and there though.

If I hear swearings every 10 seconds on videos, I click away. That's why I am not subscribed to JennaMarbles, because she curses every bloody 10 seconds that it ruins the content. In the beginning it's funny to hear that, but I grow bored with hearing that too much and want to see some CONTENT that actually is going somewhere. I am not saying that people shouldn't cuss at all, if they want to, but just don't go overboard with it because it annoys people when the other is not saying anything useful other than £\€\>\€!|££###\*|€|*] lol

Well.... there is a difference between being 'fake' and being a character. The AVGN doesn't swear and talk about crap every other word in real life, nor does Pewds scream like an idiot over every little thing, nor is Laina a mass-murdering psycho stalker that is very good at hiding the bodies. Maybe you're a potty mouth in real life, but your Youtube persona isn't, or vice versa.

I don't rant and curse loudly in real life, and my 'enemy' on my show is one of my best friends in real life.
