Keeping Twitters Separated

Michael

I Love YTtalk
I was wondering this recently, for everyone who uses social media who is the vast majority of us, do you keep your channel related Twitter profile separated from your personal Twitter?

I have been considering making my own personal Twitter profile as theres a lot of things I would like to retweet and favourite that sometimes just arent suitable to be on the YTtalk Twitter page, things like funny pictures such as @TheBatteryChicken's pictures which I find hilarious which are fine for more mature audiences but perhaps not for the younger members we have here who may have liked our Twitter.

What are your thoughts on this, is it best having a personal one and a business one? Where and when do you feel the line should be drawn? I am really considering making a personal one for myself as I think the YTtalk one is a business page and anything I tweet or retweet thats not strictly forum or YT related should be kept separate. What do you do yourself or think about this?

:)

In your particular case because YTTalk caters to a very wide audience you might want a personal Twitter. I use my Twitter as personal and for my channel because I don't want my target audience to be little kids lol

I went to make one before but I just cannot come up with a username for myself that I like, I want to have my name and surname or initials in but its so damn common :D

Yeah I have a similar issue ^^

On my channel's twitter, I am followed by 140 people (and growing) from all over the world wanting to learn daily English vocabulary and expressions. I have to be pretty restrained in what I write - I don't think they'd be too interested in me retweeting pictures of pugs with DERP faces or discussing RickRolling with @JeriKane or me asking @TheBatteryChicken if his gf has a sister lol.

Yeah maybe time to get a personal twitter for me too ^^

Man we are on the same page here, that is exactly what I am like. You cant start cracking jokes about blow up dolls on a more serious page can you? :D It is nice to know someone else feels the same way haha I have finally made a personal one, I had to put my birth year on the end but its good enough since I own the domain for the start of the name which works for me :) I can finally retweet funny things freely :D

Yeah, with our sort of channels it's pretty awkward lol. I'm going to create a personal twitter later and unleash those DERP pics.

If theres stuff that you could be posting, and you are being held back because you want that twitter account to look professional, you should definitely make a separate one. Just for the reason that all the stuff you could be posting will appeal to a different group of people and could even bring you a larger audience

I am definitely holding back with retweets and favourites because of the current audience and obviously I have to keep things professional as possible. Your Monday photograph for example, I thought that was hilarious especially on the Tube or Metro and I held back with that as I wouldnt want anyone being shocked by that haha I dont tend to share as much as I would too, I will definitely be sharing more where I can with this one, maybe that is one of the reasons Twitter never used to appeal to me that much, I have only used it a couple of times for personal accounts but never really had many people to tweet with :D
