Just do what you love most. No point in doing something that you don't enjoy because then you wont be as happy in the videos and that'll come across and might make viewers less willing to watch.
Also, at the start you should expect some negativity but ALL YouTubers recieve hate at some point, especially at the beginning, but if you keep promoting it on social media with all of your friends, and even on here too, you'll get a great headstart in no time!
 
I myself, am quite new.. I guess, ive been youtubing for like, 2 years now, but only recently started to take it slightly serious... But here are the tips I could give you

• Post a lot, but not too much
-You always need to post, post a lot, but dont post a million things in the span of one day, try to post 1 video a day, or a few a week, or even just once a week can be enough. But dont do overboard!-

• Have an appealing channel layout/art
-Id go with something more simple, and eye catching(what you have now isnt bad) and have the thumbnails follow the same pattern, but still be just as simply eye catching, which yes, is hard to do! I recommend getting yourself a logo/icon or something to represent you, so after a while, when people see it, they know its you, like Nyanners has the pink haired cat girl, ImmortalHD has Optimus Prime, something like that, i went with a lollipop/my lollipop girl-

• Be different in a good way!
- This ones obvious, dont just go taking other peoples ideas! you can totally find something you like to do, that everyone else does, but take it and make it new, and your own, or take what they did, and make it better!, very hard to do, but possible if you just believe!-

• Have top quality, or just do it for fun!
- Either one you choose helps a lot! If you just have fun with it, and dont do it for the views, it might end up better than if you sit there and try to be funny, and have top quality; But its also possible you are the type of person that is better of putting in a lot of effort and trying harder, because thats what you need, or what makes you good or different, if i were you, id try to figure out which type you are.-

• Dont let negativity get you down! Take it as criticism, and fix whats not good!
- Of course there are times when there is negativity in the youtube comments, or even from friends, just things that point out what you did wrong, or how something you made wasnt interesting! Instead of letting it discourage you and make you want to stop, take it as constructive criticism instead of an insult... Even if you wanna back talk, DONT DO IT!-

• Advertise!
-Find places its exeptable to post your videos, somewhere its relevant, and show them to your friends, its something you worked on, and made, there is no shame in advertising and being proud! Use places like, reddit, your twitter, this forum in its designated places of course, even google+.. and facebook. Advertise. But dont do it in the wrong places.. Thats just shameful!-

• Reply!
-Believe it or not, replying to comments is always a good thing to do! even if its just a thank you, or something like that, someone is totally going to appreciate that even if its a small fanbase, you care enough to reply and pay attention to them! -

• Be funny..
- No matter what, be funny! and be funny on your own terms! Always remember that! -
