Just received 3rd strike, channel about to be shut down... question

Yes, they did strike me as they thought I infringed their copyright. But after showing them that I didn't infringe, they agreed to retract through email contact with them.

Still doesn't explain why you didn't voluntarily cease all channel activity until that was resolved. 2 strikes is teetering on the edge of the abyss.

Hi all,

I'm a YouTube partner and just received my third strike, consequently meaning my account will now be closed in 7 days. The first 2 strikes are in the process of being retracted (claimant, a large gaming company, has said they've retracted weeks ago but has yet to be processed by YouTube).

When I go to upload, it says:

"We have received three notifications alleging copyright infringement in one of your postings. Consequently, your account is subject to termination. Your ability to post new videos has been suspended. Your access to your account will be completely disabled unless we receive from you a valid counter-notification disputing at least one of the claims by Apr 17, 2013."

So I've submitted the counter notifications for the 2 previous strikes showing evidence that the claimant said they've retracted the strikes. It says it'll take 10 business days for counter notifications to be properly processed.

Should YouTube shut down the account in 7 days, and the counter notifications are successful 3 days later (thus completing the 10 required business days), will the channel be reinstated?

Anyone had the 3 strikes issue before?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Why didn't you heed the copyright warnings in the first place, buddy? :/

Well, if they really wanted to retract, it would've been done by now, but even at that, if you don't dispute the 3rd strike, why did you go ahead and upload the video when you had 2 already?

This is so true, if I had two strikes, I would be taking enough care as it is not to get anymore. Tbh, if you upload copyrighted material you are taking that risk.

Well, it was images in the video that was the cause of the 3rd strike. The video was based on images, not any footage.

To clarify, I understand I infringed content, but only on the 3rd strike. The former 2 were mistakes, which is why Sony agreed to retract them.

It just hasn't been retracted yet.. been waiting a couple of weeks. I've submitted the counters for the former 2.

Because YOLO
Okay, you got me there, damn you Kevin!

I got one on my guitar channel for something I didn't expect, and I instantly deleted the video and took extra care from then on, the strike is now gone and I'm clean again :)

I've heard of a case of Viacom giving someone 2 strikes and then after 3 years they retracted the claims saying they think it was a mistake. Best wishes man, sorry everyone seems to be so harsh on you but it's kinda true not much we can do. Copyright claims retracting isn't a short process and I fear before you even get on retracted your account will be gone forever... like *poof*

But still, if you see content which is copyrighted, you should of removed it. You knew if they took action if will result in the end of your account. You should of waited until you knew fully that the 2 other strikes were removed. Even still though, the lesson to be learned here is that if something is copyrighted, remove it.

I didn't knowingly post content that I knew would get me a 3rd strike.

I had posted the video because it had contained images, not any footage, and didn't know it could be copyrighted. I didn't upload it with the intention to shut down my own channel.
