Joining to Maker - your experience?

I am thinking on joining Maker. What are your experience with them, should I watch for something specific?

I've never had a problem with them and I've been with them for nearly a year now. Maybe over a year.. Always had a decent CPM and adverts that relate to my content.
The support.. well people either seem to have a great time with support or a horrible time. Personally when I send in a support ticket I've received a helpful/useful reply within 24 hours. But some people say they don't get replies for weeks. (I've sent in around 3 support tickets).

The Maker forums.. I didn't have a very good experience there. It just seemed to be an all for one battle on spamming videos and links all other the place so I personally wouldn't recommend even signing up for that forum. But, make sure you sign up for the newsletter so you don't miss any of the important information they post there.

The music/sound effect library is great! supplied by AudioMicro.com, no complaints there. Although one of my support questions was related to that because they ran out of buying credit, but that got fixed within a week.

All in all my experience with them has been great and I have no bad comments about them. Apart from the fact I think their 2 year contract is a little bad. Try and get the 1 year contract.

@Andrew Flint Thanks for the answer! I've heard about the AudioMicro, sounds good! But what happens, when you end the contract, what happens with their music in your videos, are you still the owner of the rights for those songs?
And why is it a bad thing to be with them for 2 years? You don't have any obligations, do you? You just make as many or as little videos you want and you get a share of the profit, if I understand their policy? Correct me if I am wrong :)

All the music on AudioMicro is rolalty free so you never have to worry about copyright issues on the songs.
As for the 2 year contract, it's a 60/40 (or 50/50, I forget) split instead of the 1 year contract which is a 70/30 split, also both contracts auto-renew unless you notify them within 3 months of your contract ending. So going with the 1 year contract is normally best as you get more of the money your videos make. And when you're small the more of the split you get the better because it takes a long time to get that $50 threshold to actually get the payout.

I've been with them for a year and 6 months now. Do you think I could request them to change the split from 60/40 to at least 70/30? :P

Hi there,

When your contract is up for automatic renewal, feel free to let us know in a support ticket and we can look into improving the revenue split. We always look for ways to make our partners happy in the RPM family :)

Thanks

I'm happy with RPM, I can honestly say that. Alright, thank you for the advice!
