Its SO annoying when..

I don't know if its just my thing- but I find it incredibly annoying when people with small channels don't reply to all their subscribers' comments. The video only has like 5 comments, you cant think of anything to say!? Half of doing yt videos is about the interaction with subbies.. its obvious they're in it for the perks that comes along with having a following. Gah. #endrant. What's your thoughts on the subject?

Why do they have to respond to comments? There is no rule that saids "Small channels must reply to every comment". Just because they don't reply to comments doesn't mean they are in it for the perks. Sometimes I don't find the need to reply to comments.

I try to respond to my subs or even just regular visitors as much as i possibly can and as fast as i can. I mean this is how i run my channel and i am glad it's expanding with my hard work[DOUBLEPOST=1368231485,1368231421][/DOUBLEPOST]

Answering comments should be totally optional. It's also one of the best ways to build a loyal following of subscribers, so if they don't care about interacting with their audience and retaining subscribers, that's their business.

I respond when a response is needed. So if the comment is "Nice vid!" That's a compliment and I take it as such and don't need to respond as they probably didn't want one.

As others have said, it's completely optional but most people do it. So therefore some people will think it's the norm but most people don't. Answering comments does make the OP feel special though.

@KGTV: Well besides youtubes rules- there are no rules, so yes.. anything applies I guess (but thats a subject on its own). I think its just courtesy. These people are giving you views and trying to interact with you on your videos by leaving you a comment.. the least you could do is reply back. Its not hard coming up with something to say (unless its something like "LOL"- but thats not the type of comments I'm referring to here).
The yter I saw do this was asking people to sub to them so they can hit a certain number of subscribers. My view is, if you're not even willing to reply to the 5 comments you get per video from people and you're asking for subs, then you're obviously into making videos for the perks. Though, to be clear- Im more-so referring to the beauty community here, they get perks once they hit a certain mark. I dont know about other channel genres (as far as the "perks" statement goes anyway).

Matias Riojas III: Agreed (I totally left that part out) but I'm not talking about the "lol" comments. I'm talking more so the comments people leave that can be answered/thanked ... I guess open-ended comments is the word I'm looking for here?

Tonio: I think thats exactly how it should be done! Its courtesy to reply to everyone whos supporting your craft :] And I think this is especially true with channels that get only a few comments per video.
