Well already big channels do grow that quickly but small channels takes a lil bit to gain subs. YouTube accounts are compared to be rank. The highers rankinh channels have their videos shown on searches and stuff lower ranking videos are harder to find on searches. That is the best advise to give a youtuber. I agree 100% ;) pretty much sumed it up.
 
Oh yeah, you'll definitely start off slow if you don't have any connections.

On my old channel, it took me around 9 months to get to 1,000 subs.
 
Just create the best videos you can, then one day, ALL the people will discover them, and that's when you go BOOM! and everyone subscribes.

Who knows, I have got most of my subs lately actually. I have almost a million views, people just don't sub though. I've had some quality subs though, whether it's TV producers or people who post my stuff to random sites that get me views, my small number is doing OK. I think I'll have to restructure or something if I ever want to build a bunch of subs because my channel is kinda random

They randomly find me. My Dalmatian Dreaming about Flying video seemed to randomly get a ton of people's attention for some reason one day. That video never took off or anything, but it gained me some good subs and contacts
