It gets worse for the UK, one of our top Youtubers is a potential paedophile

Never heard of the guy, but yeah, that's just messed up. I wonder what happened to the girl though? Like what is her family saying and such? On the flip side, just like the example with the guy cheering on some lucky kid that nailed their teacher, I assume girls her age and also fans of his music are cheering her on or envious that she got to hit that.

I kinda think most of the problem with the underage thing also deals a lot with the emotional aspect rather than the psychical aspect. As adults we understand that sometimes sex can just be sex and nothing but, but people of younger age don't. I admit I can say stuff like 'where were teachers like these when I was kid?' all day long, but I'd honestly be screwed up if some older woman did stuff with me when I was 15. I was a gullible at the time, I would have fallen in love her, and I would have been heartbroken if I ever found out said teacher or whatever was doing the same with other kids or didn't really love me back.

I assume whenever the girl finds out she was 'just another notch on his belt' and nothing more, she'd also be emotionaly crushed. Regardless of age, using people and leading them on with false promises is just totally messed up and wrong.
 
So she was 15 and he was 25? Well... the guy should have known better than to go and get sassy with a minor, but I mean... at fifteen you are not exactly a little child anymore, you're fully aware of your actions. Still it's a crime, so better safe than sorry

Well, the thing about being fully aware of your actions is that the theory in the UK is that as a developing teenager, you are not. Emotional manipulation can have a factor, especially since she for all intents and purposes, as a fangirl, idolised him.

Yes... I do understand that... In Portugal we have the same law. It's just that the word pedophile is so strong and you are kinda marked forever, so in this type of situations not sure if it's fully deserved. And emotional manipulation can happen at any age. Still, everyone knows the law, and it's very clear, so he shouldn't have done anything with her.
 
Like with @VanessaN said, I wouldn't mark him a "Peodephile", although it's against the law what he done, that term just seems too extreme for it, he was wrong though, he just manipulated her because she was a fan and he was some big famous person...

I would rather mark him an Ephebophile, the two terms get mixed up a lot but, from what I have learned doing Youth Work, Paedophile is the attraction to small kids whilst ephebophile is the attraction to teenagers, as was the case with this fellow.

It's been a complete s**t storm though. Girls on tumblr have been making allegations to many youtubers, most of them false. The whole youtube community is kind of screwed up and confused atm.

I am glad my channel is small enough to not arouse any attention, and avoid this witchhunt. That's what it is in the UK with all these celebs for the most part, a witch hunt

Yeah I noticed that to be a recurring theme. I don't get it. I know these girls are looking for 15 minutes of fame, but inappropriate sexual activity shouldn't be how they achieve it.
