A lot of the times it becomes a hobby and transitions into your life, dependent on how far you want to take it. To each his own! At the end of the day, just make sure you enjoy creating videos.
Life is not meant to come coupled with the mindset of "One day, I will be living". Do you know what will happen? When you get to where you want to be, you still won't be happy. Hell, compare it to subscribers! "I'll be happy when I hit 50!". You hit 50... "I'll be happy when I hit 100!". Enthusiasm towards life shows, and can honestly just make your life better in every category.
Youtube is great because it gives you a feeling of accomplishment. Say someone reached their goal of 200K subs. Not only is that your money you are living off, but you also are moderately famous. It's not a shock if people see you in the street. You've got a lot of nay-sayers out there who will tell you that youtube is not a life. They are wrong.

It's a different side of me, my creative outlet. I have big dreams for youtube but I'm going to be realistic and accept that it will probably remain a hobby.
