Is YouTube Dying?

I don't even think it is necessarily all down to the holy algorithm anyways, a LOT of people know about he popular channels. Like when I watch Good Mythical Morning - I search for it, I'm not even subscribed to many channels, I just look for them sometimes. Or I hear about things through word of mouth.

I don't think it's dying at all right now! The more time passes, the more popular it gets! But I do think that there will be a day where it'll slow down its growth and potentially stop. I doubt it'll be any time soon but all social media trends end up like this (look at MySpace). As some random smart guy/girl said: what goes up has to come down.

As you said about TV Networks, Television is obviously not the centerfold for entertainment anymore with sites such as YouTube and Netflix becoming increasing more popular, Television has taken a backseat for many reasons

Watching live television is on the decline. Television Networks are not. Netflix has very good original content, but it's bread and butter is airing past seasons of other network's programming. The Disney's of the world aren't going anywhere. It's more likely that we start to see a la carte packages with on demand streaming of past episodes and seasons. We are almost to this point now. Good content is the key. It's easier to create good content when you have the money to spot trends and take risks. Facebook has that kind of money. Disney has that kind of money. Microsoft has that kind of money. Google has that kind of money. They no longer rely on us wanting their service. They can tailor their service to what we want. Arrogance and poor leadership are the only things that can bring them down at this point.

Thats debatable. Netflix has some of the best original series to come to 'TV' in a while, the only other networks that compete or AMC and Fox, respectively.

No it is not dying, but it is far from profitable. It is essential for Google to own it now so it will never stop being top dog. No other company could take some of the huge losses Youtube has over the years and the fact they've taken such huge losses is why other major companies do not try and compete.

Also the person who says Facebook is dying is crazy. These powerhouses are nothing like the historic internet failures. The companies who were big when the internet still really wasn't. Facebook, Microsoft, Google and Amazon pretty much own the internet these days and can not fail due to the fingers they have in every pie. I mean the fact that Facebook has Instagram and whatsapp just means it is a brand that could never really go under. If they start to struggle in the slightest (as they did when they first floated on market) they just use financial power and internet savvy to retake their share in the market place. They also have the fact that they are the pinnacle of the internet so people will always see their company as the dream place to work, kind of like every footballer wanting to play for Man Utd, Real Madrid etc. It is what keeps them going.

Only company I can honestly see making any kind of stir within these companies in the next ten or more years is Activision. They are making huge plays in a lot of fields and it is obvious with their purchase of MLG that they are interested in streaming. But I think their interest will always be in gaming and more than likely just streaming so I'm not too sure yet.

There is always one exception to the rule though and that is Twitter.

The infrastructure Youtube has in place is unbeatable and way too much of a risk to try and even compete. And the fact that Google pretty much own online advertisement through adsense means they could crush any competitors potential earnings with ease just makes it impossible for it to ever be truelly beaten. Maybe a site will pop up and have its moment, but that would be all.

YouTube is consistently in the top 3 of all websites in terms of traffic, and in terms of bandwidth it's #1. Not dying at all.

Like all businesses that want to stay in business, it's constantly transforming. And like all popular things, it's constantly being imitated.

Facebook will not die out anytime soon, but it will die out (the site itself) and if not die out it will change dramatically. I don't believe the company will go down for a long time, I mean unless something really ****** up happens it will be alright. Them owning instagram adds to their business but may/may not take away from Facebook itself.
