Is your content "kid friendly"?

So I had another youtuber message me on facebook asking for a collaboration. I was interested in doing it because he lives in my hometown and could be a fun opportunity. I decided to check out his channel and was stunned by his content....

A large majority of people who watch gaming channels are kids or teenagers. So when I saw that he made "Get baked and bake noobs" videos, I was a little in shock. In these videos, he would talk about his favorite types of marijuana, his favorite way to smoke them, and how to make sure it's "high quality" while playing call of duty. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against people who smoke, I view it the same as alcohol.

But if your audience is primarily kids, should we be talking about things that is illegal in a lot of states, and illegal for everyone underage?

Sorry, if this didn't make sense, I'm hoping to get your opinions on it all, and if you tailor your videos to suit the younger audience?

I don't really consider myself kid friendly, but then again all I really do is swear on occasion and there's a damn large portion of kids that should be playing little league football on the internet swearing like sailors, so maybe for some majority of pre-teen kiddies I am kid friendly, but yeah. I don't really go out of my way to keep things clean in that regard, I don't smoke or drink or any of that sht so at least that's one thing I don't advocate for in my vids to pollute the minds of the little ones.

Geez I've seen some kids less kid friendly than me tbh, there's this one like 8 year old that swears like she's a college dropout which is kinda fooked but whatever.

Sufficed to say; it's the internet and not everyone is a "good" rolemodel, nor do a lot of parents give two flappy bird s***s about it.

Yep, couldn't agree more. The Internet is filled with things that are inappropriate. I don't tailor my videos towards kids, I swear a bit (Everyone in the Army swears). It just irked me a bad way with his videos. Kids don't need to learn how to roll a joint or something like that.

Probably not, but if it's legal for him he doesn't really need to care; cause it becomes his "brand" you could say. I know a streamer that has the same kind of philosophy of smokin weed for tips on twitch an all kinds of different combinations. Not saying he's in the right, but like all content creators at the end of the day he does have that creative liberty to do things whatever way he wants.

Nope, I'm not really kid friendly, especially on stream. It's up to them and their parents to decide on what they watch, not me. I have more fun being me and talking/doing what I want. Honestly they probably hear worse from their own parents.

Thing is, he's making Call of Duty content and kids aren't supposed to be playing CoD in the first place because it's a Mature rated game. Also, it's a matter of target audience. His target audience, at least for that video, is people interested in weed. And if you're interested in weed, you should be over 18. I see no wrongdoing on his part here.

Cod is 18+, alcohol is in the US 21+, where is the problem talking about weed if its legal in his state ?
Obviously he doesnt want to target 12-16 year old but adults with his content. If you are targeting a younger audience, don´t do the collab. If you think weed is the devil, don´t do the collab. If you are feeling uncomfortable, don´t do it.

I'm super kid-friendly! Considering I'm basically still a kid haha but I know a lot of people my age who are very inappropriate.

Hey ! A bit off topic, but why are you not uploading any videos since 3 months ?
School. Yuck. But since we're on the topic, I'm uploading a video as we speak! 26 minutes remaining . It actually explains a bit on why I haven't been uploading, but yeah. I'm sad cause I really want to be making more videos but I just don't have the time
