There is no magic to it. You get out what you put in. Growth doesn't happen over night, but the more clever you are with your channel and content and SEO, the faster you will grow.
I know a group of people that started around the same time as me (8-12 months ago). Some are at 400 subs, some are at 2k, I am at 6k, and others are further along than me. When I look at the channels, I can see exactly where the growth, or lack of growth came from.

I will say, if growth is important to you, you won't be able to make any video you want. Sometimes you have to do things that aren't as fun for the sake of growth. I try to find a balance, and make some videos strictly for growth and some just for personal enjoyment.

i gained growth from a series over 40+ subs from my marvel heroes series then after i stopped the series i grow like 4 subs a week minus one a week because everyone has people who unsub. but minecraft should bring in growth but very little i guess. maybe i should play idk angry birds or something haha[DOUBLEPOST=1392080728,1392080580][/DOUBLEPOST]

this is true if i let a video sit for like 3 days it gets 50 views
 
Daily videos do speed up growth as long as you can maintain quality. If you can make better videos by putting out 3 a week, do it!

ever since i been uploading daily my subscribers have been coming in slowly. ive been uploading daily for 2-3 weeks now. ive been running out of ideas so i came up with a long lasting idea, which is pixelmon :p
