I think that the old idea of 'could you do it any better?' comes into play here.
Okay, yes, but in a restaurant you paid for your food, and you might not have any visible evidence of your skill. When the customer tells the waiter that they think the food tastes bad, the waiter doesn't know if they're a 5 star chef or not. On YouTube you can go checkThat pretty much NEVER comes into play. If food tastes like s**t, it tastes like s**t, you don't have to be a chef in a 5 star restaurant be allowed to point that out. "Could you do it any better" is just a way to escape from critic.

Paying or not paying doesn't make what you say any more right or wrong either. (That's why I didn't say anything about being in a restaurant.) And nah, fairy tale books don't do it either, which goes double for their worst quotes...Okay, yes, but in a restaurant you paid for your food, and you might not have any visible evidence of your skill. But perhaps I should rephrase. I'll go with the biblical 'who will throw the first stone?' then. Happy?
There's thinking something is of poor quality, and then there is actually telling the person who created it. Don't you think politeness comes in? By telling them what they made is crap, you're initiating a judging confrontation. If you can't do better, then you shouldn't go put down someone else's thing (to their face at the very least).Paying or not paying doesn't make what you say any more right or wrong either. As for your second comment, even though I'm not very religious, I'd watch where you say that kind of thing. Some people could get pretty upset about a comment like that...
