I'm not a gun channel, but I know some of them have been getting bogus strikes as of late. As long as you're not working on the gun, doing any ammo reloading, or trying to sell something, hopefully you'll be ok.
I know a guy who inquired further about the policy after getting a notification of the changes and he asked some questions regarding his channel. I'll quote him below: Again, I dont know if you'll be affected or not, but if they're using an algorithm... (well, we all know how that goes.) When they do one of their crackdowns, it happens with a big hammer.
I set up a skype call after receiving this notification, and asked some clarification questions to expand on the blurb that I was sent - this is what I was told by a Youtube Representative:
-No "home made" suppressors can be shown (registered or otherwise)
-No bump stocks, trigger cranks, binary triggers, etc can be shown
-No magazines or firearms with over a 30rd capacity can be shown
-No "home made" magazines can be shown ("high capacity" or otherwise)
-No belt-fed firearms or ammunition belts can be shown
-No magazine building or modification demonstrations ("high capacity" or otherwise)
-No 80% lower/frame demonstrations or other "manufacturing" demonstrations
-No assembly demonstrations (on stripped lowers OR scratchbuilt receivers)
-No reloading or bullet casting demonstrations, by hand or machine
-No assembly or upgrade demonstrations for aforementioned "evil" parts
-No bump-firing, belt-loop demonstrations or otherwise
-No advertisements, sponsors links, or verbal mention of gun sellers
I asked, for example, about my video showing a Mosin Nagant with a 5rd extension being installed on the fixed 5rd magazine, and was told it would be a violation of TOS come the deadline. I asked about my video of a "build" on a stripped lower from an FFL manufacturer - violation of TOS. I asked about the video in which I thanked another LGS for helping me thread an odd sized barrel, and encouraged people to check them out - violation of TOS. I asked about my video of the installation and tuning of a Timney trigger - violation of TOS. The only thing I asked about that he didn't seem to think would be a violation was a video where I pinned and welded a long muzzle device on a 14.5" barrel. I can't even mention the shop where I work.
