Is this true? Is YouTube deleting videos that have anything related to guns?

Jungle Explorer

I Love YTtalk
I heard this on the radio a couple days ago and I just wanted to check and see if anyone else has heard this are if it is true. They said that YT has started to delete all videos that had any gun related content at all. Is this true?

Can't remember. I drove like 2500 miles last week. Might have been Kim Commando, I can't remember. I did lot of channel flipping trying to find something interesting to keep me awake. Might have been Glenn Beck, now that I think of it. I like listening to shows that irritate me and make me upset when I am sleepy. Gets my blood boiling. No body does that better then Glenn. Man that guy is irritating.

"Something big is coming! and I will tell the next show! But it's coming and only I know it! It's BIG and It's Scary! It's Coming!".

What a moron.! ROTFL!!!

I haven’t heard anything about it yet and LOVE looking at those types of channels.

Maybe it’s only with much smaller channels? Lets just hope it’s an isolated occursance? :D

Yes, it's true. I can't post links to news articles, but their newest policies from March 19, 2018 state that the following content is no longer allowed:

Intends to sell firearms or certain firearms accessories through direct sales (e.g., private sales by individuals) or links to sites that sell these items. These accessories include but may not be limited to accessories that enable a firearm to simulate automatic fire or convert a firearm to automatic fire (e.g., bump stocks, gatling triggers, drop-in auto sears, conversion kits), and high capacity magazines (i.e., magazines or belts carrying more than 30 rounds).

Provides instructions on manufacturing a firearm, ammunition, high capacity magazine, homemade silencers/suppressors, or certain firearms accessories such as those listed above. This also includes instructions on how to convert a firearm to automatic or simulated automatic firing capabilities.

Shows users how to install the accessories as mentioned above or modifications.

Thanks for this info. I do a lot of firearm and ammunition review videos. My videos are just testing videos that demonstrate velocities and accuracy, or weapon functions and feature. None of them are about military style weapons like AR15s, AK47 and the like. All of my videos are about hunting style weapons and pistols, mostly rim-fire stuff. Do you think I have to worry?

Yes, its is true if you listen to Fox News
No, its not close to being true if you read the actual policy (that Fox News didn't read)

I don't listen to fox news or any other fictional entertainment outlet either (oops, I meant NEWS outlet). But, it is partially true because Cephus posted this policy.

The problem is what Fox News reported YouTube was doing was not remotely close to what YouTube are actually doing. What they are doing is in that policy. What was on Fox News was probably one of the worst bit of made up b******t that Fox have ever done ... but it got the "troops" all fired up to complain.

I'm not a gun channel, but I know some of them have been getting bogus strikes as of late. As long as you're not working on the gun, doing any ammo reloading, or trying to sell something, hopefully you'll be ok.
I know a guy who inquired further about the policy after getting a notification of the changes and he asked some questions regarding his channel. I'll quote him below: Again, I dont know if you'll be affected or not, but if they're using an algorithm... (well, we all know how that goes.) When they do one of their crackdowns, it happens with a big hammer.

I set up a skype call after receiving this notification, and asked some clarification questions to expand on the blurb that I was sent - this is what I was told by a Youtube Representative:

-No "home made" suppressors can be shown (registered or otherwise)

-No bump stocks, trigger cranks, binary triggers, etc can be shown

-No magazines or firearms with over a 30rd capacity can be shown

-No "home made" magazines can be shown ("high capacity" or otherwise)

-No belt-fed firearms or ammunition belts can be shown

-No magazine building or modification demonstrations ("high capacity" or otherwise)

-No 80% lower/frame demonstrations or other "manufacturing" demonstrations

-No assembly demonstrations (on stripped lowers OR scratchbuilt receivers)

-No reloading or bullet casting demonstrations, by hand or machine

-No assembly or upgrade demonstrations for aforementioned "evil" parts

-No bump-firing, belt-loop demonstrations or otherwise

-No advertisements, sponsors links, or verbal mention of gun sellers

I asked, for example, about my video showing a Mosin Nagant with a 5rd extension being installed on the fixed 5rd magazine, and was told it would be a violation of TOS come the deadline. I asked about my video of a "build" on a stripped lower from an FFL manufacturer - violation of TOS. I asked about the video in which I thanked another LGS for helping me thread an odd sized barrel, and encouraged people to check them out - violation of TOS. I asked about my video of the installation and tuning of a Timney trigger - violation of TOS. The only thing I asked about that he didn't seem to think would be a violation was a video where I pinned and welded a long muzzle device on a 14.5" barrel. I can't even mention the shop where I work.
